    1. [OHERIE] Obituary help Sawyer
    2. Gloria Ishida
    3. Hi Janis or anyone who could help, Janis, since I get "Digest" you have already made a trip to the library. Nevertheless, if anyone can help on an obit search, I'd be grateful. William Sawyer, husband of Caroline Chapman Sawyer died February 8, 1868 He was buried on his parents' plot in Trinity Cemetery, Lyme, Huron Co. In 1860 the family was living in Townsend Township, Sandusky County, probably on the border of Erie County; in 1870, Caroline was in Groton, Erie County, so don't know if the family had moved there before William's death or not. However, during the 1860 - to Wm's death, a son accidentally drowned in a pond in Groton, so the family may already have been there. Researchers at Hayes could not find anything nor others in Huron County. There seems to be no official death report but I am told since this was required only shortly before his death, there were many omissions. Both the Sawyer and Chapman families were well-known so cannot understand why mention of William's death is not somewhere. I have various other related information about William and his wife. Thank you. Gloria Ishida Japan

My line consists of a Dorothea Bier that was born in 1815 and married Johann Kohlmann. When Dora died,no mention of her parents and cannot locate any further info. Your John is the son of (William) Phillip.I have the church records of this family and just recently traced the family through the census records of Erie County and noted that they lived next door to my Dora and John.I was assuming that (William)Phillip was a brother perhaps to Dora.Another reason, Dora's children's names were similiar to those of (William)'s children. Would like to compare notes and see if there is a connection to the two families.

Surnames: penny, penney Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/1VB.2ACE/11761 Message Board Post: I have found an Elenor Penney (b. 1798 NY - after 1870 Fulton,OH?) on the 1850 Milan, Erie census. Her husband is dead, probably after 1842. Their children were: Alphonse (1825), Isaac (Nov 1828), John (1832), Anna (1834), Jacob (1839), Louisa (1842). Jacob may have moved to NY, married a woman named Mary and had two sons, Eugene and William. He may have served in the Civil War in Ulster, NY, discharged 1861. Mary may have died as Jacob is found later in Fulton, OH near his brother, Isaac, in 1880. This same Jacob may have remarried a woman named Jemima and had more children : Frank, James, Burdella, George, Anna Maria, John and Cora Olive. I am hoping to discover whether this is indeed the same Jacob Penney. I am inclined to believe it is since the person I believe to be his brother Isaac also named sons Eugene and William, although they may have just been popular names. Can anyone prove or disprove my theory? I'd be happy to share other Penny family research, too.
