    3. ------------------------------------------------------------------ FORWARDED MESSAGE - Orig: 7-Aug-98 17:56 ------------------------------------------------------------------ John Blair jblair@kalama.com DATE: 8/7/98 I hope you'll allow me to post this to your board.. We have had a genealogical mystery for years and there are over 20 of us trying to research this. We have known for years of our Jacob Blair I marrying an Indian (we thought Cherokee) named PRINCESS SANDUSKA.....somewhere we were told in a place called the Big L in Pennyslvania. We have never been able to find such a place. Then lo and behold we find out there are Indians that are called the Sandusky Indians. Very very close to our Indian's name. Is it possible that the Big L is somewhere in your county? Is there any information or resources on the Sandusky Indians? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much , John Blair !^NavFont02F03040006NGHHJM9BA0 Maggie's World of Courthouse Dust & Genealogy Fever http://www.infinet.com/~dzimmerm/mindex.html *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* God Put Me On Earth to Accomplish a Certain Number of Things. 3. Hi Everyone, This was posted on one of my other lists and I thought you might be interested. Maggie ------------------------------------------------------------------ FORWARDED MESSAGE - Orig: 7-Aug-98 7:22 ------------------------------------------------------------------ The following article appeared in this weeks Vermilion local newspaper: Migration Info Bill O'Brien, of the Inland Seas Museum, and I met with Ms. Lois Cunniff the other day about her project of obtaining historical data on the great migration of Connecticut pioneers into the Western Reserve territory in the years 1790-1830. Cuniff has grants from Connecticut and Ohio to complete a CT-OH Western Reserve Film Project. This will be shown on PBS and throughout the schools in telling a portion of American history that has more or less been forgotten, and yet it was the seeding by people of the great Northwest territory. Stories, incidents, events, diaries about the trip from CT by horse, oxen, walking, or by water would provide basic material to expose the migration, just the stuff Cunniff needs to complete the project. Also stories and experiences of the pioneers in settling the new lands is required. Anyone having a link to add to this historical chain can forward it to this address: Lois Cunniff Productions, Inc,. 27 Washington Sq. N. #2C, New York, N.Y. 10011, 212-477-5055. I will sending any info I have my CT ancestors (Abigail and father Elijah Porter) who settled in Seville, Medina County. Thanks! 2. There is a great orchard in Huron Co. By coincidence my mother and I are driving up there today to pick some and then can them at her cousin's place in Norwalk. The name of the place is Walchers Orchards. It is in the Fitchville / Greenwich area. I am sorry I don't have the exact location. But if you get anywhere near that area, the locals could give you exact directions. We have gone there many times before, and the peaches have been wonderful! Good Luck. Lauren

We're not quite sure why that happened, but we speculate it's because we've been adding new features and upgrading our servers as fast as contributions allow. We also suspect that the new RootsWeb Review e-zine may be helping folks find new parts of RootsWeb. Here are the detailed statistics on our July operations: o 2,975 independently-Webmastered Websites are hosted by RootsWeb. o 50,245,222 total Web hits: - 13,608,736 were HTML pages. - 6,879,675 were cgi-bin database searches and such. - 29,568,584 were graphics (gifs, jpegs, etc). o 995,249 FTP file downloads from the USGenWeb Archives and the ROOTS-L Library. o 3,967 independently-listowned mailing lists are hosted by RootsWeb. o Thanks to a neat hack by Tim Pierce, we know we shipped 99,934,614 pieces of e-mail to our mailing lists. o 60,000 alt.g and s.g.* Usenet News articles to hosts on three continents. o Approximately 830,304,000,000 bytes in total. As always, RootsWeb remains supported by user contributions. Folks who would like to become a RootsWeb Member or Sponsor (the cost is very modest) are invited to visit: http://www.rootsweb.com/rootsweb/how-to-subscribe.html *** You can become a Member easily using your credit card and our new secure server. *** Support from the Internet genealogical community is *crucial* to RootsWeb's operation. Right now, we could be hosting many more Websites and mailing lists as well as providing many further services to the community, if only we had the resources to do so. Also, we would like to publicly thank Palladium Interactive, publishers of the superb Ultimate Family Tree software, for their support of RootsWeb: http://www.palladium.net/ Thanks to everyone who participates in RootsWeb -- clearly folks are continuing to exchanging a great deal of information! -B -- Dr. Brian Leverich Co-moderator, soc.genealogy.methods/GENMTD-L RootsWeb Genealogical Data Cooperative http://www.rootsweb.com/ P.O.
