    1. ATHERTON/BENSCHOTER family of Erie County
    2. Jean Vineyard
    3. I recently located my ggrandfather Milton ATHERTON on the 1850 Census for Erie County with a wife Delia and son Franklin, age 1. However, by 1859 he had remarried to my ggrand mother, Elizabeth HOLDEN, in Barbour Co WV. Liz Proudfoot in Sandusky did a lookup for me and found that Milton ATHERTON married Delia (may have been Cordelia) BENSCHOTER in 1848 in Erie County. However, the marriage information I received indicated only the names of the bride and groom. I found information on BENSCHOTER through Family Treemaker's Internet Family Finder but does anyone know if any documents exist which would list the parents of the bride and groom and/or other information. I am looking for the parents of Milton ATHERTON. According to his marriage record in Barbour Co WV, he was born 1824 in Cayuga NY and parents were Cornelius and Mary ATHERTON but I have not been able to locate any evidence of them in Cayuga NY. I would also like to find out what happened to Delia and Franklin. Was there a cholera outbreak in Erie Co between 1850 and 1859? If so, where would deaths be listed? I also note there are other ATHERTONs in Erie Co in the 1850 census. Thanks for any assistance. Jean Atherton Vineyard

    3. Hi Everyone, Thanks for all the compliments and suggestions. I am in the middle of a massive reconstruction and some stuff is done and some not so if you see something that looks incomplete or a link from/to the links page does not work, not to worry I am working on it. (grin)It will be nice and easy to use once I get done. The page is at http://www.infinet.com/~dzimmerm/mlinks.html. I have added a separate page for Afro-American, Hispanic, Native American, Civil War, Each surrounding state of Ohio, On the lighter side, Miscellaneous. If you have any specialty links to add fell free to send them on and I will add them to the list. If you posted a link to any of the mailing lists, I have them already. I am in the process right now of making a separate page for each letter to cut down on the size of the page itself which is right now around 40K. 1. Fw: Listserver Problems Fixed
    2. Maggie Stewart-Zimmerman
    3. Hi Everyone, This is a FYI message. Rootsweb is really a wonderful service. If you don't already support them you should consider it. Maggie ------------------------------------------------------------------ FORWARDED MESSAGE - Orig: 21-Sep-98 0:30 Subject: Listserver Problems Fixed From: "Dr. Brian Leverich" leverich@rootsweb.com ------------------------------------------------------------------ Since Tuesday when we resumed normal operations after recovering from the cracker attack, we have received numerous reports of anomalous list server operation. The symptoms included: o Posts and digests disappearing. o Posts appearing in the archives and in the digests, but not being sent to mail mode subscribers. o Several other, more involved, abnormalities. There was indeed a problem that was causing anomalous operation of the main "lists.rootsweb.com" server for one or two 2-hour windows each day and a similar problem that was affecting the "lists2" server zero or one 2-hour window each day. (We accidentally broke "lists2" as we were making repairs to the "lists" server.) Anyway, the problem is now identified and fixed. To the best of our knowledge, there are no remaining problems. These two listservers had operated without problems for more than 200 days each before the cracker attack, and we'll try to provide even better reliability than that out into the future. -B -- Dr. Brian Leverich Co-moderator, soc.genealogy.methods/GENMTD-L RootsWeb Genealogical Data Cooperative http://www.rootsweb.com/ P.O. 1. Kinney's in Ohio
    2. Brad & Kacey Kintscher
    3. Hi Carol, Saw your post on the Erie list and thought I might ask you if you could have a look in your "Erie County, Ohio, Cemetery Census Before 1909" to see if you come up with any of my Kinney's? My Addison Kinney moved there possibly from New York and I know only that my Great Grandfather Maynard (see list below for siblings) was born there in 1875. When I found Addison and Sally in the Cencus Addison's mother was living with them and I am thinking that maybe she was buried in Ohio. Her name was Cynthia and she was born in 1802. I do not know here maiden name or her husband's name (boy would I love to find out her hubby's name then I might have a chance to find them in New York somewhere when Maynard was small). Thanks for your help. I will send you this message directly as well as post it to the list. Kacey Children of ADDISON KINNEY and SALLY are: i. MAYNARD NILES3 KINNEY, b. 1875, Ohio; d. 1920, California. ii. EVERETT KINNEY, b. 1859. iii. CARRIE M KINNEY, b. 1862. iv. WILLIS A KINNEY, b. 1865. v. FRED M. KINNEY, b. 1868.

    3. Hi Everyone, Well I have been reading the archived lists and my message did not get through. I will try and reconstruct it so please bear with me. I am finally back online. I had a couple of days where they thought I had a cancerous tumor on my right knee. It swelled up to four times it's normal size overnight. I could only sit with it elevated and ice in place and could sit at the keyboard only about 1 hour a day. Talk about withdrawal. The good news is that the problem is "only arthritis". The doc says that I will feel better in 48 hours but the knee is still painful to walk on. We shall see. I am not allowed to drive for two weeks since it's my accelerator/brake leg. Besides I have this vision of going to the library literally! (grin)I can see the headlines now..."Local Genealogist really gets into the library!" The better news is that now I know it won't hurt it not to elevate it (that really had no effect) I will have time to get some of those updates done that I keep putting off for bad weather as I would rather be out and about. Thanks for all the prayers and words of encouragement. 3. RE: Walter HULING's burial at Ohio Soldiers' and Sailors' Home (Now officially named Ohio Veterans' Home). Since you gave no approximate dates, I checked my copy of "Erie County, Ohio, Cemetery Census Before 1909" with no luck. You might try writing to them at Ohio Veterans' Home, Sandusky, OH 44870. They can check for you. Be sure to mention a date of death, or a time frame. You can also (if he died after 20 DEC 1908) write for a Death Certificate ($7.00 for certified copy) at: Erie County Department of Health, Bureau of Vital Statistics, 420 Superior St., Sandusky, OH 44870. The Death Certificate always gives the date and place of burial. Good Luck Carol

    3. ------------------------------------------------------------------ FORWARDED MESSAGE - Orig: 18-Sep-98 13:33 ------------------------------------------------------------------ AVAdams195@aol.com DATE: 9/18/98 I need HELP ! I am looking for confirmation that my grandfather is buried at the Ohio Soldier and Sailors Home in Sandusky, Ohio. Walter HULING, who died at the age of 47 was married to Gertrude and had two boys, Walter and James. Unfortunately, my grandmother never provided any information to the boys about their father. During his five year "stay" in the home she never visited him. My father, Walter could never get any information about his dad and now that he has passed away I am having a very difficult time. I have received a copy of his entrance papers to OSSH in which he denied being married or having dependents. My father was eight and his brother was five at the time. Very complicated to say the least. If you could help me in any way or know how I can get started in solving this "mystery" , I would greatly appreciate it. My e-mail address is avadams195@aol.com.
