    3. ------------------------------------------------------------------ FORWARDED MESSAGE - Orig: 14-Oct-98 16:14 Subject: The 'Original' Lorenzo Dow ------------------------------------------------------------------ Hi Everyone! Last week I got into a conversation on the Virginia Roots list about the circuit-riding preacher, Lorenzo Dow. Lots of us have a Lorenzo Dow 'Somebody' in our data. Since I have a lot of information about the 'original' Lorenzo Dow, they asked if I would post a web page about him. He was born in 1777 in Coventry, CT. Well, I ran home from work and put up the Lorenzo Dow page after supper! I hope you find it interesting. He was something! I can just see him jumping out of a church window onto a horse and riding away shouting that he would be back one year from the day! He did, too! The site is: http://www.acun.com/dentons The link to the article about Lorenzo Dow is about half way down the first page. I hope you enjoy the stories! Blessings! 1. UNCERTIFIED d.certs.
    2. Maggie Stewart-Zimmerman
    3. Hi, >>Lori and all, you can get an "uncertified"(not usable for legal purposes) Death Certificate much cheaper, not sure what the Counties or State Health Dept. charge for that (think that it used to be $2 or something), OR you can get one for $3 ($3.18 for Ohio residents!) through the Ohio Historical Society: http://www.ohiohistory.org/textonly/resource/archlib/refemail.html [scan past half way down the page, to "UNCERTIFIED Death Certificate copy"] And I thought I saw somewhere you could get an Uncertified copy for small change(like10c) but I can't remember where! Anyone else know????<< Actually, once I get it back together I can get you a cert from the OHS for a quarter and a SASE. As to others, each county charges a different charge for uncertified copies. The Ohio Department of Vital Statistics I believe now charge 30 cents a copy. I have info at http://www.infinet.com/~dzimmerm/vitals.html but I know some of it (prices) have changed and I have not updated it as of yet. Maggie !^NavFont02F03430016NGHHGKNHFBHID3NIFFHJ44322E

    3. Gail Saw your post about a birth record for Almyra May Gensenleichter. Have you checked the birth record in Probate Court? Of course these records don't always have every birth. Sometimes also, they are indexed incorrectly or not at all. If at all possible, if I were you, I would consider a careful scrutiny of the records for the periods you believe to be her birth date. I would also check the "L" and the "S" - it could have been recorded as Leichter or Senleichter, etc. Good Luck Carol

    3. Rick Erie Co. was established in 1838. Since it sometimes took awhile for the various courts of record to be set up, you might want to check the parent county - Huron Co. - for the records you are seeking. There are no marriage, death, or birth records in Erie Co. until about 1854 or so. These are in Probate Court. Carol
