Thomas Re: Joseph & Sarah NICKLE HARTLAUB Since you found them in the 1900 census, there is a good possibility that they were alive after 20 DEC 1908. You should request a death certificate - it will tell where they are buried. Send $7.00 for a certified copy or $2.00 for an uncertified copy to: Erie County Health Dept. 420 Superior St. Sandusky OH 44870 Good luck Carol

Paul, I'm going to the Sandusky Library on Friday and I'd be happy to look up and try to find that obituary for you. Is that the only information you need? If I can find it in the newspaper microfilm file I'll make a copy of it for you. Let you know what I find out Friday. If there is any other information please feel free to e-mail me by Thursday night so I have all the info you need looked up. E-mail me at See2itgirl@aol.com Laura
Sally Before Erie County was formed in 1838, the area was part of Huron County, however births were not normally recorded in Ohio until the mid-1850's. You can try at: Huron County Probate Court Huron County Courthouse Main St. Norwalk OH 44857 But I doubt that they will have anything that early. Your only other recourse is to attempt to find a baptismal record in whatever church they may have belonged to, but that would be difficult for that time period also. Sorry that I couldn't give you the assistance that you were hoping for. Carol > great-grandmother, > Mary Jane BEDORTHA, b. SEASON'S GREETINGS! T'was the night before Christmas and all through the pad Not a hip cat was swinging and that's nowhere, Dad. The stove was hung up in the stocking routine In hopes that the fat man would soon make the scene. The kids had all had it so they hit their sacks And me and the bride had just begun to relax When there started a rumble that came on real frantic So I opened the window to figure the panic. I saw a square short that was makin' fat tracks Bein' pulled by eight dogs who were wearing hat racks And a funny old geezer was flippin' his lid He told 'em to "make it," and man, like, they did! I couldn't help diggin' the scene on the roof As I stood there just waiting for chubby to goof. They stood by the chimney in bunches and clusters 'Till chubby slid down coming on like gang busters. His threads were the squarest and I just had to chuckle In front (not in back) was his Ivy League buckle. The mop on his chin hid his button-down collar And with that red nose, man, he looked like a baller. Like, he was the squarest, the most absolute But face it, who cares when he left all that loot? He laid the jazz on me and fled from the gig Wailin' "Have a cool Yule and man, later, like, dig!" author unknown !^NavFont02F03DD0007QGHHJDF1A18
I have another puzzle in my family tree and wonder if anyone can help? In the 1870 census on Groton Twp. their is a John Wheat listed. Under his name are a couple of children with last names being different. One of those children is my G-G-Grandmother, Gertrude Sprauge. At the time John is in his thirties. Does anyone have information on this John Wheat? When I was growing up I was told that Gertrude was a Wheat and that she was adopted because she was half Indian and half white. But I found out that she was a Sprague and her parents were Ezra and Susan (Baker) Sprague. They came from around Sandusky. I can't find any anything on them as of yet. The only information I have on them is from the death certificate of Gertrude. That information was supplied by her daughter,Natalie White. Thanks for any help in advance, Leora
I read your query in the Huron forum and I thought I may be able to help. Mason Road is full of Cemetery's, did she give you a city? Sweet's cemetery is just a little one in someone's back yard - it's right around the corner from me. Are you from the Erie County area? My husband's uncle is a Johannsen from the Sandusky area. If you are interested in contacting them let me know. My e-mail address is Brooke433@aol.com. Lisa
Looking for info on any Johannsen families in Erie County area. My husband's grandfather is August Friedrich Johnson, b 2/14/1873 or 1874 m. Anna Maria Schwanger, 4/2/1902 in Sandusky Emanual Luthern Church. Have identified Peter G. Johannsen b. 9/21/1843 as his father and Botilda ? as his mother. she was born 7/5/1848 and died 4/24/1928. August's brothers were Christ V. Johannsen, b. 1876 died 1958; Martin Johannsen b. 1879, died 1894 and Hanry Johannsen who married Agatha VonEitzen. Have talked briefly over the phone with an elderly cousin in Huron County, but have not been able to visit with her (health problems). She made a comment that Mason road cemetery could answer some questions. The only cemetery that I could find on Mason road is Sweet's Cemetery and none of those names seem to fit. Have Oakland Cemetery information, but can't find much else. Is anyone researching this name? Is the Sandusky library open on sundays? Is there another place in Sandusky where historical records are kept. Been to OGS, Mansfield last Saturday and pretty much exhausted their materials. Thanks for your help. Sue Johnson
