    3. Beth Many years ago I sent for my exhusband's grandfather's pension papers. His parents were not named, but boy the information that I did receive was wonderful. There was a description of him, widow's pension denial because of a previous wife that no one in the family know about (also info on 2 unknown to us children of that marriage), documentation of the 1st wife's death, marriage record for the 2nd wife, besides wonderful documentation of his service. I think it was all worth the money even though the price is considerably more now than it was then. Carol --- [This E-mail scanned for viruses by LRBCG.COM, Inc.]

    1. [OHErie] Henry Howe's History of Ohio
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/1VB.2ACE/11351 Message Board Post: In the 1840s, a great historian named Henry Howe visited each county in Ohio meeting many people and taking extensive notes. He published his History of Ohio shortly afterwards. Then later, in the 1880s, he revisited each county and updated all of his previous notes and made many, many drawings. He then almost totally re-wrote the entire book and republished it in 1886 in a two-volume set containing nearly 1000 pages. He has general history chapters and then he has a separate chapter devoted to each of the 88 counties in Ohio. The Ottawa County Historical Museum has reprints of each of the county chapters as well as several other publications and used books. Please email the Museum or Curator for more information. Thank you and happy hunting to all! Vicki Ashton, Curator Ottawa County Historical Museum [email protected] [email protected]

It looks like we descend from the same line of Sheldons. David Wilkinson Sheldon was the son of David Sheldon and Viana Wilkinson, right? David Sheldon was a brother to my gr.gr.gr.grandfather Rufus Sheldon Sr. (who married Joanna Brown) . David and Rufus Sheldon's parents were Roger Sheldon and Huldah Streeter, Roger Sheldon's parents were William Sheldon and Rebecca Rhodes, William Sheldon's parents were John Sheldon and Sarah Kingsley, John Sheldon's parents were John Sheldon and Joanna/Joan Vincent. This is as far back as I can go with my Sheldon line with the help of the Sheldon Family Assoc. This line of Sheldons goes back to Roger Williams, the founder of Rhode Island, through his gr.gr.granddaughter Rebecca Rhodes. I wonder if Rebecca Rhodes was related to Julia Rhodes Sheldon? I have a lot of info on the Griffins. My gr.gr grandmother Mary Griffin Sheldon was married to Rufus Sheldon Jr. Her father was Henry Griffin (1789-1867) who was marr! ied to Elizabeth Merritt.

The web site you refer to is mine. :) I have further info on Mary E. and will try to get it together tonight. Mary had a daughter by Henry Griffin and moved to Ill. where she remarried again. This time to an Oscar Davis and then she divorced him shortly after for cruelty. In the divorce papers it says she was a widow with two children when she married Oscar. She is listed in the census as Pet E. Davis with Isaac T. sheldon and her daughter with husband Oscar Davis. I am not at home so can't remember what census but will get back to you. I think the census also list her and the children as being Indian???? I have to look into this. David Wilkinson Sheldon, her first husband was my great great great great grandfather. His wife Julia Rhodes Sheldon was my great great great grandmother. Very interesting group!

I just had to approach you ,on maybe another lookup favor !! If it's even possible , but I am trying to track down a POOL(E) family & maybe (2) two, can't say--I think only (1) one though ! At some point there was STEPHEN POOL(E)b1826 England m.1852 to MAGILL b.1835 OH./ MATILDA POOL(E) b.1822--? ENG.m.1842 to JOHN DELANO b ?1820 -? / MARY POOL(E) b.ENG.1830 m.1847 to DAVID LANCASTER b.1820 PENN.-- ALL of the above were Married in ERIE CO. (HURON) I think ! and also THINK , lived ERIE CO starting ,circa 1835 & lasting for some time, maybe into the late 1850's / There was ANOTHER -- POOL(E) of this bunch I know a bit of, that did not get married in OH.,but in MI .--but do think he did live in the area of the others at some point. His name was WILLIAM POOL(E) b.ENG.1828 ?m.MI.1855 to MARY GARFIELD b. 1838 OH./NY.? I'M hoping to locate these wayward POOL(E) PEOPLE & others on a census somewhere in that COUNTY of HURON, It's a good guess only !! --- If a census could find these ,I would be forever greatful , learn the real TRUTH about their arrival In the USA / Or If " YOU " can't,maybe you could provide me with the Site or person who might take on a task such as this.
