    1. [OHErie] Re: Kelleys Island - Erie or Ottawa County?
    2. Steele
    3. Mary I am replying to the Erie Co List because I have tried to connect to the msg board for 2 days with no luck. Erie County was formed on March 15, 1838 from Huron County. In 1840, Erie County traded the Marblehead Peninsula for Kelley's Island. Erie County also then acquired the southern 1/5 of Oxford Twp which was formerly part of Ridgefield Twp, Huron Co, and also the southern 1/5 of Groton Twp which was formerly part of Lyme Twp, Huron Co. Erie also at that time gained Florence, Vermilion, Berlin, Huron and Milan Twps from Huron Co. This info was gleaned from research by Henry R Timman. He also states that some former names for various Erie Co Twps are: Patterson became Margaretta, Portland was absorbed by the City of Sandusky, Avery became Milan, Eldredge became Berlin and Vermilion Twp originally had to 'lls' as in Vermillion. Hope this not only helps Mary, but other Listers, Carol --- [This E-mail scanned for viruses by LRBCG.COM, Inc.]

    2. Hello Everyone: Some time ago I saw a posting mentioning that the Follett House Museum was closed for renovation, etc. The museum's web site seems to be down - at least I cannot access it. Does anyone on the list know if the museum is open and if not, when it will reopen? Thank you! Paul C. Miller

Scherer. I came across, just 1 for a Henry J. (Hank) Scherer age 83 a policeman married to Effie. Surviving him is 1 son, John C. and his brother John B. Scherer who died Apr-1983; 4 brothers and 1 sister predeceased him. This does not seem to be your Henry Scherer. Have you gotten a positive death certificate for Henry Scherer stating that he did indeed die on May 15, 1966? I also checked the Erie County, OH census for 1910, 1920 & 1930 for Henry & Kate Scherer and didn't find them. Do you have the newspaper obit from either your grandfather, or one of his siblings that will state where each sibling was at that time. This may help in narrowing down the search for other siblings.

    2. To those of you who requested lookups on the Brewster line I have not forgotten you. I will send any further correspondence to you privately, since it is not Erie County related in most cases. I had several tests this week for the pending May 19 eye surgery and with Easter, I have just not been able to do the lookups as yet. The coming week looks better. Thanks for your patience. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/1VB.2ACE/11403.2.1 Message Board Post: Thanks for your offer Kris. I've hit a brickwall with my greatgrandfather Frank J Meyers (earlier spelled Myers).b. abt 1850 in Ohio. I can't find which Myers family he might belong to, though he lived in Norwalk Township near many Myers (Meyers) families in the mid to late 1800s. My husband and I were invited to a Meyers reunion held in Milan Ohio, but couldn't even make a connection there. The elderly gentleman who invited us to the reunion, knew my grandfather and was sure we were related but didn't know how! His Myers family came to the US in 1858, but if Frank J was born in Ohio his branch was already here. Have you ever heard that the area in Norwalk Twp. known as Jacobs Mills was formerly known as Myers Mills? Thanks for any info you might be able to provide.
