3. I'm new to the list and fairly new to research. I am hitting a brick wall with one particular ancestor. According to family records my GGgrandmother's name was Asenath Root married to John Phillips. The link to Erie, Ohio is both my Ggrandmother Sarah Marie Phillips and her brother Walter R. Phillips were said to have been born in Erie County, Ohio. Sarah Marie was born 12 May 1828 and Walter R. was born17 Oct 1833. I do not know how long the family lived in Ohio. They went to Michigan and I found Walter in the 1880 MI census and his mother was living with him widowed and the spelling of her name on the census record was Esineth. I also found John Phillip's death record and burial there. The thing is that is it. I can find nothing before or after that. It is as if she came from nowhere and vanished into nowhere. I have researched extensively ROOT family records to no avail. My requst for this list is HELP! I live in Missouri. I have tried searching census records for Erie on the Genweb site, haven't seemed to help. Are there census records (1830 or 1840) or birth records available for their birth dates that might give parents names, place of birth etc that someone could look up for me. I hate to ask as this could be difficult. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. I can't seem to do this alone. Thank you, Donna

    3. Hi Sharon, Another Sandusky paper would be the Star Journal. It was published from approx. 1898 until 1958 (called by that time The Sandusky Star News), and it was concurrent with the Register. Wayne R. 2. Sandusky Library 114 West Adams Street Sandusky, Ohio 44870 419 625 3834 www.sandusky.lib.oh.us This is a very beautiful old library that faces the Erie County (Ohio) courthouse. Although I am a native of Sandusky, I currently live in Maryland. Depending on the year of the obituaries, the local newspaper may have had a different name. It has been the Sandusky Register for many years but has had other names. Perhaps if you don't get another response, you could contact the library through their website. The link above gets you to their new website. Be sure to visit their old website by clicking on the link on the right hand side of the page. David

    2. I try to do meticulous documentation of all information on families. Could someone in Sandusky answer two questions for me. I paid someone to copy obits from Sandusky. They copied the obit, but did not indicate the name of the newspaper that it was located in -- two of the obits do have Sandusky Register on the corner of the page (because the obit was near the page corner), but the others have nothing. Questions: 1. Was there another paper in Sandusky that was likely to print the obits? 2. The name and address of the library closest to Sandusky where the microfilm is located? Even though this is a secondary source, I want to have proper documentation for the information. I would appreciate any help. Sharon in So. CA
