Hi, His name may have been Larchmont. Sharon in AZ
I have been working on a Chill genealogy for a number of years. I do have Adolph Weiland and Anna (every record I have, has a different first name for her) Gieger, who were the parents of Alfred Weiland. Alfred married Lena Chill. Lena Chill was a sister to my great grandmother Anna (Chill) Kroft Holzinger. According to the information I have, Alfred (Adolph's son) was born in Kimball or Bloomingville or Monroeville, Ohio. I am just guessing, but I believe all these locations are within maybe 10 miles of each other. E-mail me off list if there is someway I can help you. David

They had at least 12 children: William (1870-1898), Lena (1872-1924), Christena (1874-??), Amelia (1875-1896), Fred (1876 - ??), Charles (1879-1946), George (1841-1948), Rosa (1883-??), John (1885-1943), Louise (1888-??), Walter (1890-1948), and Alfred (1892-1971). Adolph was a shoe maker. Sometimes his last name was spelled Wieland. Anna's last name has also been seen in a variety of spellings.
I am looking for James B. Current, b. 1812, (and his wife Sarah and some children), James, wife, and one child born in Canada, some children born in Iowa, who moved for a short time to Ohio, according to one contacts information. Trouble is, the contact didn't say what county, and she hasn't replied to my further e-mails. So, the county is a guess (what counties most attracted Canadians/Iowans during the late 1800's?). The years I'm looking at are between 1878-1890. Can anyone help me? thanks Marilyn Current
Hello list, I have a post card sent by my Grand Uncle in 1910 to his Father, telling him that he was in Sandusky and was going to stay with "Uncle Larch". There is no mistake in the name or the spelling, it is very plain to read. My question, has anyone ever heard of this name and is short for something. Or is ther a person out there any where with this name that can shed some light?? Thanks, Penny
Paul have you tried WEINGARDT, WEINGARD, WEINGART. When I'm at a loss for the "correct" spelling I sometimes check the IGI . I also use the index in Strassburger and Hinke. There is one name in there that caught my eye. Listers, A friend gave me a copy of the current (July 2003) Sandusky AMVETS Post #17 newsletter, "Seventeener" which had the following note: "DID YOU KNOW that there is a plaque on the hall wall in front of the Erie County Veterans Service Office on the 1st. floor of the Erie County Office Building at 247 Columbus Ave. (Old LaSalle Bldg.). Yes, I have all the info you mentioned, but there is no mention of the original spelling of the name. I have also contacted descendants of the family by letter and e-mail, but have been unsuccessful in getting a reply. If you could give me info about the researcher you used, I would appreciate it. I live in NJ and getting to Sandusky is difficult. Thanks again, Paul
Have you located them on any of the census or looked for naturalization papers for them? Obituaries might have a clue. The newspapers are on microfilm, if you still live in the Sandusky area. Where are they buried? I would check the cemeteries in and around Sandusky since that is where they lived. My father located a wonderful researcher from Cuyahoga County who was familiar with Erie County. Her fees are reasonable and she obtained 54 marriage certificates in 3-1/2 hours of research time. She got them on Monday and he received them in the mail yesterday. If you decide to go that route let me know off list and I will put you in touch with her. Sharon in So. California
Hello Everyone: I am researching the family of Frank and Bridget Weingates, who lived in Sandusky during the last half of the 19th century, and am trying to determine the original German spelling of the name. Their related families (husbands of the daughters) I am researching are: Tenney, McQuillan, Bauman, Mead, Hennessey, and Whetstone. Bridget's sister married Michael McLaughlin. If anyone has any information or is also researching these families, I would greatly appreciate hearing from you. Son Charles Weingates was Chief of Police in Sandusky in the early 1900s, and I have some info about him, but nothing regarding the original spelling of the surname. The Police Department also has no info in this regard. Thank you very much. Paul C. Miller

Clara's siblings were Frank(1873-1957), Jay(1869-1952), and Rose(1876-1962). Their parents were George Jacob Balduff(1842-1928) and Rosine Barbara Raeder(1849-1929). George Jacob was known as Jacob and his death certificate lists his parents as Frank Balduff and ___ Schiffer. The siblings of your George Sr. (1865-1955) were Edward(1869-1945), Charles(1871-1950), and Frederick(1880-1936). Their parents were Christopher L. Balduff(1842-1917) and Elizabeth Keller(1844-1922). Christopher's parents were Jacob Balduff (1813-1892) and Frederica Rohrbacker(1811-1882). Jacob, Frederica, and Christopher all came to America on the Silvie De Grasse in 1846 along with a Joseph Balduff (1820-1900) and 3 siblings of Christopher's (one dying on the ship). In America Jacob and Frederica had five more children. One of them was named Jacob and I used to believe that was Clara's father, until I found his death certificate and the ship log. So now I do not know how Clara's family is related to George and Nettie's family. Frank (Clara's grandfather) could be Joseph's son but I have not found any proof of that. With pictures of Frederick (George Sr.'s brother) and Frank (Clara's brother) together in a buggy and at the family house I imagine they are related, but I have not found the link yet.

Thank you Ted and any others who helped with this! Up until now I had only found one of three children born to John Foster Sayles (b: Feb 22, 1813 Sempronius, NY d: Jul 18, 1863) m: Dec 04, 1838 Catherine Bennett (b: Jan 15, 1822 Ohio d: Mar 1845). All three children were put into foster homes after the death of their mother. With this index I found Mary Josephine "Sales" (with Leonard Chapin hh, Berlin Twp.), Ester Amelia "Sales" (with Elsworth Bumond hh, Berlin Twp) and Olive Catherine "Sales" (with Charles Kellogg hh in Berlin Twp.). John Foster Sayles married Malinda Shepard in 1854 in Henrietta, Ohio, and had one child, Alice Isadore Sayles (b. Oct 29, 1858). According to a biography of Lavallette Griffin (husband of Olive Sayles), John Foster Sayles "was a physician of note". I am trying to determine where he lived after his first wife's death, the circumstances of his own death and where he is buried. My g-g-g-grandfather, Ebenezer B. Hills, appears in an online tree of John Root. I have not figured out the relationship, and I continue to search for family other than my direct line descending from Ebenezer's son James Melvin Hills. Ebenezer B. Hills was born 1784 in Connecticut to Ebenzer Hills (Jr.?) and Mary Bronson/Brounson. The family migrated to Watervliet, Albany County, NY around 1800. Ebenezer B. then moved on to Lewis County, NY and later appeared in the 1840 census for Erie County, OH. James Melvin Hills was married there in 1844 to Sarah M. Patch, daughter of Zar and Elizabeth Patch, originally of Danbury, CT. I do not know what became of Ebenezer B. Hills or any other of the family. Nor do I have any other names other than James Melvin. They do not appear on the 1850 Erie County census. James Melvin, Sarah, and their children moved to Louisiana prior to 1850 and appear on the census there. Maybe this will help you, and maybe someone will have information on my Hills line.
