Surnames: Burns, Downing Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/1VB.2ACE/11704 Message Board Post: I am looking for any relatives of Patrick and Rose M. Burns and their children, who lived in the Kelly's Island area of Erie Co., Ohio. They are listed in the 1860 and 1870 censuses. Patrick and Rose were both born in Ireland, Patrick about 1819, Rose about 1824. The children were Mary J (could be MaryJane) or Jane, born about 1850 in Connecticut, Daniel, born about 1851 in Connecticut, Eliza (could be Elizabeth), born about 1854 in Ohio, John, born about 1857 in Ohio, and Ellen, born about 1860, she was 8 months old, in Ohio. There is a chance that Patrick and Rose could be my gggrandparents and the their daughter, Eliza, may be my ggrandmother, Elizabeth Burns Burke, who was married to my ggrandfather, Thomas Burke from Ireland. They lived in Stamford, Connecticut. One of their daughters', Margaret Burke Downing, was my grandmother. She was married to my grandfather, John J. Downing. They lived in Stamford, Connecticut also. I believe that Daniel may be the same one I found in the 1900 census of Portland Township, Sandusky City, Ohio. His children were Ida B., Sidney, and Margaret(?), all born in Ohio. It does not list a wife, so he may have been a widower. If anyone has any information or is a relative, please do not hesitate to leave a message here. Thanks, Judy Downing

    1. Re: [OHErie] Re: Miller's in Erie County,1817-???
    2. Lori, Do you have Levi and Harriet (Saunders) Miller in your collection of Millers? They had a daughter, Mary Jane (b. 1839 in Florence Twp.), who married Richard Jarrett. Shelly Clipson-Shock Powhatan, Virginia In a message dated 1/12/2006 3:22:45 A.M. Eastern Standard Time, moses@montanasky.net writes: What was Ansons brothers name? I "collect up" Miller names! I know that there's got to be a connection between Amherst,my Thomas J.,John and G.W. (I think his name could be George Washington). I say this because they're all right there togather in Allen County in 1870. However Allen County IN didn't keep real great records,so the only records I could find on my Thomas were where he bought a child size casket,on Nov 11,1868,they're last child was born in late Dec 1869 or Jan 1870,(I assume she's his baby?!) But his widow,Malissa didn't settle his estate until Dec 1876 and she'd been married twice by that time! When I add it all togather I figure if all those guys weren't brothers they had to have been related somehow. But not seeing Thomas on a census,I can't even place him with a birth year,so I don't know if he was way older than Malissa or the same age. The Millers drive me insane! Then I found out that I had a Fox that came through Erie Co with my Harrington line I about flipped.........it's almost like they all moved around ,to different states, knowing each other before hand, then ending up in the same place, and intermarrying....almost makes one think they planned it that way! You are right though,it does seem to be a small world after all! Lori
