Donna May Conner Hollister, July 20, 1927 - August 22, 2003 Friends, Mom passed quietly Friday, August 22, surrounded by her children, many of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her minister. She left us surrounded by love just as she was in life. I took a leave to help with her care this past week. I would not have had it any other way. Hospice was wonderful, but Pam and I felt we wanted to do the everyday caring for her ourselves. The nurses, doctors, chaplins all gave such wonderful support, shared every little thing we could expect, what it meant, why it was happening, and where to expect it in her process of dying. It made her passing easier on us, and in turn, easy on her. We could tell her what was happening to her and that it was OK, nothing to be afraid of. One of her last lucid days, she joked that she hoped Jesus would come take her to heaven on a cruise ship!
