Doris and Interested Others, Wayne Nichols sent me a copy of my grandparents' marriage record (Raymond Dale Shields & Sarah Margaret Creager). It is always interesting to me how these records are supposed to be primary records and yet contain many errors, due to clerk or family errors. Definitely, Raymond's and Sarah's parents names are recorded as shown in Doris Aultman's Marriage Records of Darke Co., OH, but they are wrong. However, the record of these two wrongly spell or give their names: It is not Calef Shields but Caleb Shields as father of Raymond. His mother was Hannah Myers as given. Sarah's parents are Gideon Winfield Creager (not W. G.) and Mollie Dunnam is Mollie Dunham (nickname) or Mary Jane Dunham. Now, I wonder what the other children's marriage records show for parents' names. Very interesting. Guess it is impossible to get the original record corrected, even though it is soooo wrong. Thank you, Doris, for without your book, I would have never been aware of the error in the original record. I figured the error was in the record, as I have seen many records, as censuses, with misspellings for my family's surnames. Audrey
