Hello List, For many many years I have searched for the last missing dau of my 4th gr-grandparents and I hope someone on the list will be familiar with one or more of the names below. I have had the marriage record below for about 20 years but not following the path of movement of the majority of this family, or their normal naming pattern, Martha E. Creech has been lost to me until just recently. James A. WYANT m.30 Dec 1858 Martha E. CREECH in Vigo Co., IN. I still have not found this couple in 1860. In 1870 they are in Crawford Co., IN, as WYANT. Children were: Sarah 10, James Mc. 6, Alice 4, Ida 1. They were living only a few households from Martha's parents. In 1880 James and Martha show up in Franklin Twp, Darke, Ohio, as WIENT and children were: Sarah J. 18, James Mc. 16, Alice 12, Ida 10, George 8, Elizabeth 5, John 3, Driley 1. Then apparently the "t" at the end of the name got lost and family members start showing up as WYAN. In 1900 Martha WYAN is a 60-yr old widow living in the household of her dau and son-in-law Charles and Drilla HUGHES in Newberry Twp, Miami, Ohio. Martha reported she'd had 9 children with 5 still living. I can only account for son George WYAN who lived consistently in Darke County with his wife Viola and ever-expanding family, and Drilla who married several times. Possibly dau Ida married Abraham R. Garver but I am not sure yet. In 1910, Martha WINES is 68-yrs old and living in the household of her dau and son-in-law Omer N. and Drilla SLONAKER along with the three Hughes children by Drilla's first marriage. I have been unable to find Drilla or her youngest son Glen Hughes in 1920 but in 1930 she is Drilla PENNY living with husband Joseph Penny and her dau Marie Hughes in Monroe Twp, Miami County; son Glen Hughes was at West Milton in Miami County. It is possible that Glen Hughes on the SSDI b.7-19-1899; d.6-1971 Miami County is the same Glen though the birth month is off by a couple months. Given Drilla's history, no telling what her name ended up being. There was a Drilla COLFORD who d.10-25-1931 in Allen Co., OH (Ohio Death Index) and Drilla was not a common name, but I have no way of knowing whether she was the same person. Meanwhile, George and Viola WYAN were still living in Darke County 1900-10-20-30. So, after making a short story long, does anyone have access to cemetery records that possibly list Martha WYANT-WYAN-WIENT-WINES after 1910? She does not appear on the Ohio Death Index under any of those variations (or others that I could think of). Are there any marriage records for the WYAN(t) family in Darke County? Searching the internet, I noted that someone has a lot of data on a WYAN family from PA to Darke Co., OH, and there are a lot of similar names but not the right dates. Whether James A. WYAN(t), husband of Martha, was related to this other group I don't know at this point, but he is not included on their website, so not to be confused. Thank you very much for your time and for any clues/hints anyone might be able to provide. Sincerely, Ruby
