    3. Elle4n; Also try the Mercer Co Papers. My Grt Aunt and spouce died in Ohio City and death Obit was in Celina and other Mercer Co Papers. Mercer Co adjoins Van Wert. Also the newspaper had her maiden name as Smith when her mother's maiden name was Mahala SMITHSON and her's was Louisa ROOKS. I also had her Mar cert., a dau's extracted birth in Clinton Co Court Records in LDS records,. Now have found that Louisa Rooks and Joseph ( Joel) Boring, he spouce went in 1909 to Cem office at Mt Olive Cem and bought their cem plots with her name as LOUISA ROOKS and his as JOSEPH ( Joel) Boring abt 10 yrs before they died. So from their mouths came her Name of ROOKS as her maiden name. Still one person put her in WCFT as a Smith and connected another Smith family as her parents and other's have picked it up and are further spreading wrong imfo about her parentage and maiden name. Her parents were, William ROOKS b 1817,and Mahala Smithson b 1814 both in Clinton Co. Oh,and she was born in Greene TWP, Clinton Co. Oh Oct 1839. Her mother died in abt 1855 in Marion TWP,.Grundy Co. Mo. Someone who gave newspaper etc thought her name was Smithson and newspaper just put Smith etc. I now have 3 proof's of her maiden name but still the Smith imfo is out there. Hope other's that are descend of Louisa see this and contact me as I have lots of Gen for them corrected. So you never know how much problems come from misspelling names etc. as well as getting things told to family long ago can be misconstrued.
