Brookville, OH in Montgomery Co just opened a Brethren Heritage Center--the write up in the Brookville Star stated that they had books/papers/Bibles from many different Brethren communities there. Please email me privately if you are interested in further. Greenville, Darke County, had a very strong element of Brethren, I believe, and they still have the Brethren Home as an assisted living arrangement. I think that Anabaptist = Brethren, but I might be wrong. At my mother's burial in 1988 in Greenville, several people came, still dressing in Brethren clothing (for lack of a better word). My mother taught in a country school and one of her pupils was a gentleman named Norman Burns who became, among other things, the president of the American University in Beirut, Lebanon. Upon his return to this country in the '70's he was writing a book on the Brethren of Darke county. I have no information further on him, sadly. My main reason in writing, is not that you won't get better info from the DCo group directly. But if you get info off the list, could you let me know. I'd love to know more about the folks there.
