WIFE AND MOTHER PASSES AWAY Leora Samantha Hershey, who resided near Bear's Mill, died Wednesday evening of last week of dropsy and grief over the recent death in France of her son, Paul, who died last October in France while in the service of his country. She was 59 years, 2 months, and 5 days old and leaves her husband, two daughters-- Mrs. Walter Lecklider of this city, and Mrs. Carl Mills of near the city, two sons, Will Hershey, who is at Coblentz with the American Army of Occupation, and Ora Hershey residing at home, three sisters--Mrs. Ann Shields of Cedar Point, Mrs. Will Swisher of Sidney, and Mrs. Ben Nealeigh of this city, and six brothers--John, George, Frank, Oscar, and Chat Hathaway, residing in this city, and Tom Hathaway, residing in Virginia. Double funeral services for the deceased and her son Paul were held Saturday afternoon at the U. B. Church of this city, conducted by Rev. J. W. Pantle of Ithaca, assisted by Rev. Racey, local pastor, and burial made in Greenville Cemetery. Michael(5) Creager was s/o Christian(4) Creager (Adam(3), Johann(2) Casper Krieger/Creager, Hans(1) Ernst Creager) & Anna Mary Wolf. David Vernon Lecklider was s/o Jacob C. Lecklider and #3 Mary Nancy Eshleman. Jacob C. Lecklider married #3 Charlotta Creager. Jacob C. Lecklider was s/o Lewis/Ludwig Creager and Catherine Scheifler/Scheufler (erroneously given as Catherine Creager by MANY researchers) (Info Nov. 2004 from Phylis Crick sent to her from Irene Creager Lawson via Margaret Myers clarifies that Ludwig's wife was not Catherine Creager.) Lucinda E. Slonaker was dau/o Abdel/Abdiel (s/o George) Slonaker & #2 Cynthia "Syntha" "Sintha" Westfall. Ann Shields was Anna or Ann Maria (Hathaway) Shields, wf/o William Shields. William was s/o Isaac M. Shields & Elizabeth Rust. Isaac M. was s/o Patrick Shields & #1 Mary Fogle. Patrick was s/o Daniel & Mary (???) Shields, immigrants from Ireland. One William Nealeigh married Rachel Shields, dau/o Patrick Shields & Mary Fogle, however, I don't know how the Ben Nealeigh above would be related.
