    3. Troxel Researchers: I found this in a book called "Off the Beaten Path" by Reader's Digest: Yahoo Falls Scenic Area.Turn west off Rte. 27 onto Rte. 700. Go 3-1/2 miles and turn north onto the gravel Forest Service road, Rte. 660. Continue one mile to the parking area. As you turn onto Route 660, look for the grave of Jacob Troxel. During the American Revolution, "Big Jake" Troxel was sent by George Washington's staff to live among the Indians of Kentucky and prevent them from supporting the British. Welcomed by the Tsa-Waa-gan Cherokees, he lived happily in their village, eventually marrying the chief's daughter, Princess Cornblossom, and having a child by her, whom they named Little Jake. For the next 30 years, however, relations between the Indians and the settlers were difficult. In 1810, Princess Cornblossom, then the head of her dwindling people, agreed to move the tribe to Tennessee. The Indians assembled for the journey near Yahoo Falls, but just before their departure they were massacred by a group of settlers. Arriving as the attack ended, Princess Cornblossom and her son shot and killed two of the three surviving whites. Grief-stricken for her people, the princess died soon afterward; two days later Big Jake followed her in death. Little Jake terrorized settlers in the area fon severa! years before surrendering.
