I am seeking additional information on the following Darke County Families: > Aaron Abel Irelan, son of Moses Irelan and Hester Abel, son of Aaron Irelan, son of Dayton Irelan. These Irelans were from New Jersey, then to Pennsylvania, then to Cincinnati, then to Darke County Ohio (Hollansburg area) by 1850. I believe Aaron Irelan died about 1813 and is buried in Bevis Cemetery, Symmes Township, Hamilton County Ohio. His son Moses served in the War of 1812. Moses and Hester are buried just north of Eldorado, Ohio. Laura Pearl Martin Irelan, daughter of Luther Martin. These Martins were perhaps from Maryland. The Irelan's are my fathers family, my grandmother was Laura Pearl MartinIrelan. > > Angie Hill > buckeyenurse90@earthlink.net

I am looking for James Smith's parents. James was born abt 1809 but I do not know if it was in Darke County or not. He married Susannah Overly(abt 1811) in December 1830 in Darke County. They had 8 of 14 children in Darke County before 1846. They moved to the Allen County Indiana by 1847. I believe that James had a sister named Kisiah who married Susannah's brother Daniel Overly in 1824. I believe that she died young (Kisiah) because Daniel is married to his second wife by 1830. James and Susannah named a daughter Kisiah also. Any info would be appreciated. Jan Smith

Stephenson and Buchanan are the families I descend from. Some early - 1830 to 1850- sibs married into Steele and Stahl, Johnson and Robbins surnames so I'd be interested in them also. Does anyone know what companies men from Darke Co. joined during the Civil War? I know my grandfather, John W, Stephenson fought as I have an Oregon Veteran's Census notation. But, there are so many John Stephensons who served from Ohio I'd need more specific info to access his papers from the National Archives. Please let me know if any of you know some of our county's veteran's companies. Thanks, Sylvia Ross thistles@ocsnet.net

Since the "Roll Call" has died down on the other Darke Co. List, it will no longer create a double load of messages if we have something similar on this list now. Please place some of the surnames in your subject line and explain in the text portion of your message what families you are researching in Darke Co., Ohio. A good subject line will help people view the messages they really need to see. I hope you find some new connections......
