Hi! Does anyone know how to find out about births before 1849? So far I have a tentative hit on a marriage certificate (In the Cuyahoga County Probate index is a certificate for John Gardner and Mary Rogers - my ggg-grandmother's name was Mercy, but after trying to decipher census handwriting, I could easily see how it could have been transcribed that way - the date matches) which is my only clue to where in Ohio my ancestors lived. Four of their children were born in Ohio - all before 1849. Can anyone suggest how I might find information on them?
