This address appears to be no longer valid. My great aunt's obit shows her living there when she died in 1953 - Vesta Fox. Anyone know what the address would be today? Thanks.
From what I can see the address, 1087 E. 11th St, was never valid! According to the list of street name changes from names to numbered streets there was no E. 11th. If that street address existed it would be at the present site of N. Marginal Dr (north of the Memorial Shoreway, which is a freeway built in 1938) and in the back yard of the US Coast Guard facility. To the NE is a harbor where a WW II Japanese submarine is located and to the E is Burke Lakefront airport, which opened in 1947 built on landfill. Most of that area was filled with refuse (burned garbage!) up into the 1950s. When we moved to Cleveland in 1953 I can not recall any houses north of the shoreway. In 1937-38 there was a huge Great Lakes Exposition from where the old Municipal stadium was located all the way to E 20th St and north of the RR tracks. One way to verify her address is through a Cleveland City Directory. Robert Jerin Croatian Heritage Museum Cleveland Ohio BHurst1948@aol.com wrote: This address appears to be no longer valid.
