    2. Hi, I think we can begin by asking were they French or English? That answer will give us a small clue. When did they come and where did they settle? My grandparents came in 1910 and settled on the west side, eventually moving to Maple Heights. My family name is GRAVEREAU, obviously French...they had been living in Manitoba, St. Boniface, then Kenora, Ontario, they came eventually from Thunder Bay, which was called Fort William in those days. I know they crossed the border somewhere in Michigan, I can look back and check that out for sure.     3. The one ancestor's last name was "Hughes". I think he was Welsh. The other was "Jarvis", and French. Of course I'm interested in finding more information about where they are from, but I'm very interested in finding any type of immigration records from the US/Canadian borders. Was immigration from Canada regulated? They they keep border crossing lists (like we have ship passenger lists for our ancestor who crossed the ocean.) What about those that drove a buggy or car?
