At first I only knew that my great-great grandfather, John Freese, was from Germany. In the 1880 census I found out he was from Mecklenberg. Now in the 1870 census it says he is from Wittunburg. I am just checking, hopefully with German Bob, to find out if Wittunburg (not sure of spelling) in in the province of Mecklenberg before I do an all out search. His name has been spelled differently in each census so it has been hard to find him at times. He married Louisa Schmitt who, according to each census, says she comes from the same place as do each of their parents. I did find marriage records for them in the Cuyahoga Marriage License index so I don't know if they married here or were remarried here. Any help or enlightenment would be appreciated! Ceal
