A HUGE thank you to everyone on the list who has helped me in so many varied ways, words cannot express the gratitude I feel for all you have done. I will still be on the lists and asking for help, but with other lines. It is with regret that I must bring to a close my nearly five years long search for the De Caro and Catalfo families, primarily of Sicily and Cleveland, Ohio. It has consumed most of my time since I began. I have completed four generation and would like to do more, but without family providing information I feel I cannot go on further with this project. I have literally hundreds of documents – birth certificates, marriage applications & licenses, death certificates, obituaries, photos of graves, emigration manifest copies, census copies, naturalization papers and more. I spent a great deal for a researcher in Sicily to help locate ancestors and provide many copies of documents from there. This work (“In Loving Memory of Nicholas Joseph De Caro, 1938-1992”) was intended for a family member. Other family members, who have made some contact with me, have informed me that they would have no desire to have this information. That greatly saddened me. My research will end on Feb. 4th, the anniversary of Nick's death. I will then be boxing it up and delivering it to a genealogy library, in the hope that someday a member of one of the families will want it and complete what I was unable to do. I am posting this to the mailing lists because I have posted so many messages on the Rootsweb Message Boards and Mailing Lists and want anyone who searches there to know my research has concluded.
