Breakout sessions for the major genealogy software programs start at 11 a.m.; brown bag lunch; computer fundamentals from 1-2 p.m. WHERE: Fairview Park Regional Library, 21255 Lorain Road, Fairview Park OH PROGRAM: Morning Program: Needles Looking For A Hay Stack or What Your Mother Never Told You About The County Archives, with Don Kozlowski Have you ever wondered what unknown items lurk in the dark recesses of the shelves in little used areas of the County Archives? As a volunteer there, Don has found more than just births, deaths and naturalizations available to search for long lost relatives. There is the Honor Roll Book of Civil War soldiers from our county showing their unit at enlistment and explanation of Great Aunt Mabel's "Return of Birth" certificate, with the words, "See Affidavit" written across the top. There are answers for the curious about construction of the Carnegie Bridge (now known as the Hope Bridge) and homes lining Euclid Avenue a century ago. Don will take you on a tour through the Archives little visited places. It may open new doors of opportunity that will enable you to find facts about your families. Afternoon Session: Vista Reviewed by Bill Frank Bill will present the latest word on Microsoft's new operating system, Vista. He will cover advice on whether to upgrade, what to do with a new computer if Vista is already installed and other comments on how programs interact with it. If time remains, Jean Hoffman will show how to ferret out some of those hidden files on your own computer with a few ideas on how to keep track of them. Meetings of the Computer Assisted Genealogy Group-Cleveland Area are held nine times a year at the Fairview Park Regional Library, 21255 Lorain Road, Fairview Park, Ohio. Normally on the third Saturday of each month; no meetings are scheduled in July, August or December. Guests are welcome.
