Some disabled children in this area were sent to Apple Creek in Wayne County. It very recently closed. Somehow, I doubt you will get much in the way of records, for confidentiality reasons. You might contact the Ohio Historical Society to see if they might have been sent there or if they know. Also, County homes (infirmaries) may have housed disabled children. Early on (1800s), this was typical, especially for mentally delayed folks. If they required too much care, they had to go elsewhere. I vaguely recall something about Orient records being at Ohio Historical Society. I have gotten records from another institution from OHS. You have to fill out a form, swearing that you are the next of kin or oldest living relative to get these records. Then, basically you only get the admission form. Cynthia in Lake County
