OK..So their son, William, who was in their hh in 1900, isn't there? If he is not in the area 1920 on, chances are they're mine. Thinking their son William is the one born 1889, which is the same year my grandfather William Louis Smith, was born. However, he gives birthdate of August 17, 1889 on his World War One draft card, and said he was from "Lorain". I cannot find him in Lorain in 1900. All the close matches I'm finding are in Cuyahoga. I do not know what other counties surrounding Lorain County would be good places to check. I'm wondering if the birthdate for the oldest child given is actually for his "baptism" rather than "birth"? If so, this may still be his family. My grandfather was in Columbus, Lowndes County, Mississippi by 1918 when he signed his draft card, and was in Greenville, Washington County, MS in 1920. He died March 26, 1930 in Tupelo, Lee County, Mississippi just eleven days before the birth of my father, Willie Robert Smith. Thanks! I'll have to see what I might be able to find in Lorain. He stated he was from "Lorain", but I cannot FIND him there in 1900 with any certainty. He gives name as "William Louis Smith" born August 17, 1889. I sure wish I could find his birth record to identify his PARENTS! His father born Germany, and his mother said to be born "England". He spoke "German" according to 1920 Washington County, MS census. Thanks for your help.
