Volume 120 and 121 cover the years 1920 and 1921, which concurs with your family story. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~ohcuyah2/marriages/marriagekey.html Robert Susan <myheritage@sbcglobal.net> wrote: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~officer/CuyOhFAQ.html http://probate.cuyahogacounty.us/ml/ These should help The Cohens wrote: Hi all, Ancestry.com's Cuyahoga Jewish marriages database shows an entry for vol. 121, p. 87, for the marriage of Jake Kasle to Ray Neifeld on January 9, 1917. However, the family says he didn't marry Ray until 1921. According to the database entry, Jake's mother was Rachel Kaminsky, and father was Harry Kasle. Can anyone help me check this? Jake's father was, indeed, Efraim (also known as Hyman, Chaim or Henry) Kasle, so that jibes, but we know his mother was Fannie (Feige) Kaminsky. Rachel Kaminsky, who married a Tennebaum, was Jacob's aunt and supposedly living in Canada or San Francisco in 1891 when Jacob Kasle was born in Russia. Also, according to the 1920 Federal Census for Toledo, Jake's wife in 1921 was his first wife, Jennie, not Ray! According to the family and to the census records, the last child he had by his first wife, Jennie, was born in 1919 (way after that 1917 date of marriage to Ray), and the first child he had by his second wife was born in the mid-1920's. Does anyone have access to see if these were database transcription errors, or do we need to order a copy of the marriage certificate? And which date do we use? I have run across 1 or 2 exceptions in the hundreds I have looked at. My g-grandparents are listed in vol 57, but the actual record says they were married in 1904. That is just the one I remember off the top of my head. -- Dennis Kowallek Cincinnati, Ohio kowallek@iglou.com ******************
