It was not necessarily in Ohio, but in the mountains en route to or from there to or from the Oil fields in Pennsylvania. Maybe I have the decades mixed up, it sounded a bit strange. I don't have an exact year, was guessing based on other facts, which would make it after 1870. Maybe they were just needlessly afraid. Have not been able to go further back with this as we don't have the names of William B. LICHTIG's parents yet, and they would be the adults involved. I got his marriage license, and it sadly had no names of parents on it. But, thank you for that great explanation of how people chose a mode of travel.
