    3. >From my book on the Cleveland German:     (1879) Unabhängige Evangelische Protestantische St. Johannes Kirche (akaIndependent Evangelical Protestant Church, Independent Evangelical Church).  Present address: 2100 W.44th. Independent, however, it appears to have closed or moved.  It was not a member of a synod. Founded 5 Oct 1879 by about 10 to 15 persons, mostly fromVereinigte Deutsche Evangelische Protestantische Kirche der  Westseite (see 1853). First services held in a vacant church on Franklin Avenue Circle. First edifice on Harbor Street (.W.44th), off Lorain, was replaced by a new one in 1896, cornerstone laid in 1899. While the new church was being built the congregation met at a rented tent at the corner of Liberty (W.48th)& Bridge. Early pastors: Henry C. Fack 1879-80, Adolphus Bauer 1880-81, Carl Mönch 1881-1883, C.W. Weiss (b. 27 Aug 1859 Bad Waldungen, Waldeck) 1883-1925, John E. Klein 1925-31. John P. Hohenstein 1931-34, Jacob E. Schatz 1934-72, G. Kummer 1972-?
