First Session guest speaker will be Derrick Mason. His topic is "African American Genealogy," but of course, the techniques apply to all. Second session - Computing Tools - will be a review of some of the free resources and utilities on the NEOCAG DVD with Norm Henke, specifically PDF* readers (Adobe and Foxit), writers (Bullzip PDF Printer [needs Ghostscript Lite], CutePDF Writer, doPDF Convertr, PDFCreator, PDFill PDF & Image Writer, and PrimoPDF), and converters (Free PDF to Word Doc Converter, Zilla PDF to Text Converter, and http://www.pdftoword.com/ .) or Second session - CAG Tools - "Basic Web Page Workshop" with Cynthia Turk. If you like, bring a laptop and make a simple web page. The point of this is to show how a web site works. It will be very basic HTML - the codes your browser "sees" that make it show you what it does. This will be "Web Appreciation 101" not "Comprehensive Web Site Construction 402." . Third session - User Groups - Anyone using any genealogy program is welcome to gather others of like interest and share. We will have a new user group added to the regulars - RootsMagic lead by Paul Studly. *Portable Document Format (PDF) is a file format created by Adobe Systems in 1993 for document exchange. PDF is used for representing documents in a manner independent of the application software, hardware, and operating system.
