He was sealed to his parents on 25 Sep 1970 in the Idaho Falls temple. James was baptized 3 Nov 1967. He was endowed 23 Feb 1968 in the Idaho Falls temple. She died 1833 in Mayfield, Cuyahoga, Ohio. She was sealed to her parents on 15 Dec 1969. Martha was baptized 21 May 1895 in the Salt Lake temple. Her endowment is done. Martha married James COVERT about 1805 in Ovid, Seneca, New York. They were sealed 19 Nov 1969 in the Idaho Falls temple. Would someone explain to me what endowment is, when baptism is mentionned what kind is that? Would they have convert to the mormons? Thanks Valerie

    1. Re: [OHCUYAHO] James Covert and Mary Jane Sheldon
    2. Gary & Betty
    3. Valerie - There is a probate file (common pleas Probate Dkt A, Case 418) (Mayfield Twp Ohio) which pertains to an Estate Bond for Daniel Sheldon (var. David Sheldon) dated 17 Mar 1835 which lists Elizabeth (probably his widow) and children: Champlin, Lucy, Mary Jane and Squire. Based on this information and your request Mary Jane would have been about three years old at her father's death. Also in 1848 a Parley Sheldon apparently then or earlier had no minor children which would eliminate your Mary Jane. Hope this is somewhat helpful - Gary -----Original Message----- From: ohcuyaho-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:ohcuyaho-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Valerie Sent: Monday, July 14, 2008 8:18 PM To: OHCUYAHO@rootsweb.com Subject: [OHCUYAHO] James Covert and Mary Jane Sheldon Hello, I am trying to find Mary Jane Sheldon's parents. 3. I learned yesterday something which subscribers may wish to check. Google has added what they call STREET VIEW to Google Earth. It lets a person go street by street where it is in place and view each side of the street. I looked up my great grandmother's house on E. 55th St., Cleveland,OH and it is still there and in good condition after more than 100 years. I was so surprised that it is so tiny considering they raised 13 children there. You may want to give it a try with your ancestors' addresses. It is in place in other cities also. djm

    1. [OHCUYAHO] Your Assignment for Saturday
    2. Cynthia C Turk
    3. Hi, There, We all wish Sandy Malitz good health as she has caught a bug and will not be with us at NEOCAG on Saturday. In lieu of her talk, Chuck Green is arranging a "My Favorite Web Site" program. Please come and offer your favorites. If you come prepared for three, then likely all your favorites will not be taken by someone else. Maybe pick one that's unusual. Here's what you do. 1. Think about and write down the URL of three of your favorite web sites for genealogy. Do not use Ancestry or FamilySearch unless you have a very specific database you like. 2. Be prepared to say what it is on the site that you like or find useful. (Why do I want to go there?) 3. Find a surname or place (or whatever you look up) to search that you know will work. We'll find the site and run your surefire search and maybe explore a little, but we want to get to everyone at least once. Looking forward to seeing you at NEOCAG 9:00 am Saturday July 12, 2008 at St. Bartholomew Church, 435 SOM Center Road, Mayfield. Visitors welcome. Cover charge only $1.00 for visitors. Free if you join Saturday. See you there! 1. Re: [OHCUYAHO] Death certificates 1970's
    2. Hi Shelly: You can go to this site to find the information on where the obituaries appear. http://www-catalog.cpl.org/CLENIX Then, send that informaton along with your mailing address to this email below and they'll send you copies of the actual obit. As long as you only order three at a time, they are free: Microform.Center@cpl.org As far as the death certificates are concerned, to my knowledge, the $16.50 route is the only way to go for this time period if you want an actual copy of the death certificate. However, Ancestry has a database of Ohio Deaths covering 1958-2002, but if my memory serves me correctly, these aren't actual copies of the death certificate. Hope this helps.
