    3. Shelley, I was going to write to you and suggest that you post the message about the Minnick photo on the Lorain County list. There were plenty of Minnichs in Avon. But now you've really got me curious about this latest photo of Emma Smith. I would guess that she and sister Kate are actually Schmitzes, especially since they were from Germany, according to the census records you posted. I'm descended from Nicholas Schmitz and Maria Katherine Minnich. They were married in Prussia in 1840. I'm not sure whether or not I've discovered all their children. They did have a daughter named Emma but she was born in 1847. She married Peter Busch and they did live in Cleveland. All that being said, I'd be interested in the photo. I'd also be interested in making contact with anyone else who writes to you about it. 2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph identified as Emma SMITH which was taken at the E. B. Nock Studio in Cleveland, Ohio. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1870's with Emma likely in her teens at the time it was taken. In addition to her name, someone has also written "sister of Katie MINNICK" on the back of the photograph. This photograph was recovered with others belonging to the MINNICK, BENSON, HOFFMAN, and BEARDSLEY Families. I am hoping to locate someone from Emma's family so that this wonderful old photograph can be returned to the care of her family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
