I am sorry for sending previous message, I believed the party sent it to me and to dumb to know it is a hoax. Very sorry for a false alarm. Peggy
Why oh why don't people check these out before sending them to others! This hoax is nearly as old as me! Does one really believe that neither Mc Afee nor Norton would not have the ability to detect most viruses! If you follow the instructions you will delete part of your MS program!!! While it does no significant damage it will cause problems. Here is a link to that specific hoax info: http://hoaxinfo.com/jdbgmgr.htm And here is one that you may easily check in the future http://hoaxinfo.com/ Best advice: 1) keep your MS updated http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp 2) keep you anti-virus program updated 3) run a second anti-virus program, some may be found on the net at no cost! http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp Robert Jerin Peggy Ferrier <pjf@phonewave.net> wrote: I just received a message from Joanie - follows: I was n notified today by someone whose address book I am in that she had found a virus on my C drive. Please, everyone, when you get something like this, please go to symantec.com or the like and check it to see if it is a hoax. This is a well known hoax. Hi everyone- I've gotten far with my brickwall family recently, but I just got some marriage certificates from the Cuyahoga County Probate Court and my great-grandfather was apparently married before he married my g-grama. It said his first wife was deceased and I need help figuring out who she is. I've looked in the Probate Court historical marriage index to no avail. Only the marriage to my g-grama is listed. My immediate question, though, is how can I go about getting an Ohio birth certificate (from a birth in 1911)? I found on www.ohiohistory.com that it you can pay $11 for one, but thought someone had said it's possible to get one for less somehow. Any help is much appreciated!! T something on page 2 is probably "Taufen" or baptisms. You should see a fancy capital then chicken scratch with a little dot (that's an "a" in this so-called Sytterlin script), then two more chicken scratches, which are a "u", then something approaching a cursive "f" then lots of chicken scratches because e and n in Sytterlin look very similar. And "Heirath" is the old-fashioned spelling for "Heirat" or marriage. Hello Everybody: Today there is a lot of talk about about web sites that contain dubious genealogy material. Let us not overlook those sites that have excellent material. Three members of our Society have referred us to such a site and as per our policy of passing on good information I would like to direct you to it. Although it will not direct you to genealogy lines it will answer a lot of questions you may have regarding our early Pilgrim and Puritan ancestors. How they lived, what they believed in and their contribution to the history of this great country. I urge you all to go to the site at; http://xroads.virginia.edu/~CAP/puritan/purmain.html It contains much information on the Pilgrims and Puritans and includes additional links and a well done list of additional sources etc. Well written by Scott Eric Atkins and includes an email address of where you may ask Questions, and include Comments and/or Suggestions. Please limit your emails to the subject matter. This is first class material and belongs in your library. Congratulations Mr. Atkins for your fine work. Enjoy Harold Oliver Director America's First Families
