Could someone please tell me how and where to obtain an obit for Fred Maurice BARNETT, North Olmsted, Cuyahoga County, Ohio who died February 11, 2003. Many thanks for any help. Phyllis Smith Jensen
Paul Bauer mentioned in an email about a relative being born around 1850 in PA, but showing up in the 1900 census in Cuyahoga County. My Phelps line has done the same thing, in the same time frame. Was something going on during that time which gave them the incentive or caused these families to consider moving? I have yet to be able to determine where in PA they came from. I live in Virginia and all my other lines are southern based. So trying to get a handle on the migration patterns in the NY, PA, OH area is new to me. Even catching on to the division of townships etc. Nancy Researching Phelps, Pupikofers and MacKenzies.
Is there a group in the Medina area for the not so experienced genealogical researcher? I believe that I finally found my G-Grandfather's brother, Joseph L. Bauer (1850-?), in the 1900 census living in Cleveland, on Star Ave. He is married to Amanda and they have 4 children, Leonard, John J., Ludwig and Harry. Joseph was born in PA, but all children were born in Ohio. I haven't done any research in Ohio. 1.) Is anyone researching this family? 2.) Are there any Catholic genealogy archives for the Cleveland area that will research marriage and christening records? Thank you for any assistance. Paul Bauer
The Great Lakes Chapter of the Association of Professional Genealogists is sponsoring an Advanced Genealogy Discussion Group. The next meeting is on Saturday, September 11, 2004. The purpose of the group is to discuss advanced genealogical methodology as presented in case studies that have appeared in various scholarly genealogical publications. The group meets the second Saturday of the month, starting at 10:00 am, at the Medina County District Library annex meeting room in September, October and November of 2004. The library is located at 210 South Broadway St., Medina, OH. The meetings last about one and one-half hours. There will be no meetings in July, August, or December. The discussions are free but pre-registration is required. Any experienced genealogical researcher is welcome to attend. As a pre-requisite, participants should be familiar with Dr. William M. Litchman's article, "Teaching Analysis, Logic, and the Research Process: A Seminar Approach", from the NGS News Magazine, Nov/Dec 2000, pages 340-343. Each participant is requested to read several times, in advance of the meeting, the article to be discussed at the meeting. The article chosen for the September 11, 2004 discussion appeared in the National Genealogical Society Quarterly, Vol. 82, no.3, September 1994. It is titled "The Four Fathers of Amzi Leach: Analysis of Conflicting Evidence," beginning on page 207. Hello, I am researching descendants of Philipp Daniel Stark and Margaretha Ludwig of Newburgh Township. I have over 900 descendants to date. The family was from Bobstadt, Hesse-Darmstadt. At our most recent reunion we discovered a letter from Philipp's son Charles written in beautiful Sütterlin script in the local dialect of Hesse from a Union Camp in 1865. Phillip and Margaretha had five children: Charles (Karl Ludwig), Valentine, Philipp Jr, Elizabeth and Clara. Clara's family emigrated to Orrville, Ohio but the remainder lived in the Cleveland area all their adult lives and many descendants still live in Cuyahoga county today. Surnames associated with the STARKS are: NIGHTINGALE SCHWARTZ Müller or MILLER BEESER MESSENGER BAER or BAIR Many of the family attended St. John's German Lutheran Church in Garfield Heights and Valentine Stark's home is a centennial home on Granger Road. I also would like to say hello to Lucie Flowers, Bob Jerin, and John Carroll who are on this list. Barb

You are probably referring to the following German church. Check with Fellowship United Church of Christ in Wickliffe Deutsche Evangelisch-Protestantische Dreifaltigkeits-Gemeinde (1874-1919)(German Evangelical Protestant Trinity Congregation). This church was formed in 1874 by members who split from Die Deutsche Evangelische Protestantische Kirche and met at the home of Christian Nobbe on old Clifton Street (E.39th). They later bought land at the southwest corner of Case Avenue (E.40th) and Cooper. In 1919, this church (also referred to as Case Evangelical Church) consolidated with Die Deutsche Evangelische Protestantische Kirche, which relocated to Thornhill Drive and Arlington Avenue. It became known as the First Evangelical and Reformed Church which went through subsequent consolidations to become Fellowship United Church of Christ in Wickliffe. Clergy: Duer, Horn, Schneider, Stempel, H.C. Germann (until 1878), August Kimmel, aka Johann August Kimmel (1878-1929), John Etjen. "L.R." <villagerose88@yahoo.com> wrote: Hi All, I need help. Does anyone know where I might find records from a divorce in Cleveland which was finalized between 1910 and 1912? The Clerk of Courts referred me to Cuyahoga County Archives but (unless they are part of the Court of Common Pleas Special Docket files,1876-1922) records from time period aren't listed among the Archives holdings on their webpage. I'm still awaiting a reply from the Archives. Any other ideas? Thanks. Cindy Researching Czarnetzke, Blass and Lutz in Cleveland
