to Margra15@aol.com. I am originally from Parma, OH. Some of my relatives, a family by the last names of Prince and Staley were living in the Oberlin area at that time. Actually I believe most of them were in Birmingham. Do either of these name come up in connection with this incident? Virginiagenmom@aol.com
I've just subscribed to this list in digest mode. I am somewhat surprised that it came to me as an attachment. I do not usually open attachments I've not been told about in advance? Should I be receiving this as an attachment? Thanks vicki ________________________________________________________________ The best thing to hit the Internet in years - Juno SpeedBand! Hello, I want to thank everyone who helped me find information on German Birthplaces. Thank you. All the suggestions and maps that you pointed me to have been really really helpful. Someone even found a record at LDS that looks realy promising. Thank you! Here is my new question ( I try to pace myself) I want to get the divorce records for a divorce that took place between 1902 and 1913. It is for ARCHIE GALVIN and EMMA HOTES GALVIN. Emma remaried in Feb 1914, so I figure she was no longer married at that time. I read that the "clerk of courts" has these records--is this something that I need to be in Cleveland to do? ( I can just see myself sneaking out of my in-laws's house at Thanksgiving to get the divorce record for my father-in-law's grandparents.) Thanks again, Catherine P.S. this is the best list. I love every single post. --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? New and Improved Yahoo! Mail - Send 10MB messages!
The Wellington Genealogical Group will host a joint meeting with the Lorain County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society at the Wellington Town Hall on the town square, second floor, Wellington, Ohio at 7:30 PM. , Wednesday, September 1, 2004. Following a short meeting, the Oberlin Historical and Improvement Organization (O.H.I.O) will reenact the famous Oberlin-Wellington Slave Rescue. The incident occurred in 1858 when an eighteen year-old fugitive slave John Price was abducted in Oberlin by slave hunters and taken to Wellington to await transport back to the South. Over three hundred enraged citizens of Oberlin stormed the building where he was held in Wellington vowing that no slave would be returned. The protest resulted in the arrest, trial, and conviction of twenty-three participants. Barney Hartmen will appear as Morris Gillette, a major witness to the event. The public is invited to attend this reenactment of an episode in the tale of "the town that started the Civil War." For further information contact Margaret at margral5@aol.com, or Jean at atmmom1@aol.com Respectfully submitted, Jean Copeland VP, LCC/OGS
Kathie, Do you have the names of Sabrina and Sarah's husbands? Their husbands ages and place of births? and children?
Has anyone found a Sabrina (Rooney) Crawford in your searching? has anyone found a Sarah Jane (Rooney) Miller in your searching? They are the children of Bryan and Ann Rooney...they would have lived in the Cleveland area from about 1890-1920"s. Any help would be appreciated..I have more information on Rooney history if we are connected. Thanks, Kathie
Could someone please look up Theodore DWORZNIK in the 1920 Cleveland census for me? His spouse would be Mary. Both born about 1897. I need the Enumeration District and sheet number if you find it. No need to copy any other info -- I just need a clue where to find him. Heritage Quest's index doesn't list him under that exact spelling. I know I had found him once before (probably on Ancestry.com) but neglected to write down the ED#, etc. and I no longer have a subscription with them. Thanks, Sandy
