Kingston, Ontario was a popular place for those coming from Ireland to Canada, and then to Cleveland.

I just attended a one-day seminar by John Colletta and someone asked that questions. He says it is very difficult, if not impossible, to track immigration from Canada. I suppose that you might find such information in Cleveland census records. I recall in doing some database work with the 1930 census that some people were listed as being from Canada. Nancy L. I have many relatives/ancestors who did so, but all I know about them was that they were "Canadian." I have no idea from where. Any help? (I've already searched U.S. Naturalization papers, and apparently my ancestors did not make petitions.)
Hello All, This message was recently posted on another list. I thought it would be of interest to Ohio researchers looking for heretofore unavailable (closed) files. Way to go Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Wouldn't it be great if Ohio and other states followed in suite. After all, CA seems to be the pace setter in legislative matters, including those impacting family history. I personally tried to obtain information regarding a direct line ancestor's brief stay (weeks) in a hospital prior to his death and those records were denied me as the facility has now changed hands and become a mental health (drug rehab) institution. I do have had that experience with my ancestors. Supposedly they came into Quebec, from Ireland, and settled in Crestline, Ohio.
