    1. Ramel-Spindel service?
    2. Dennis Murphy
    3. I have the following obit from the online Necrology files: Id#: 0423861 Name: Berger, Julianna A. Date: Feb 4 1954 Source: Cleveland Press; Cleveland Necrology File, Reel #093. Notes: Berger, Julianna A., of 7014 Zoter Ave., beloved wife of Max A. P. mother of Mrs. Elma F. Testen, Bruno M., Mrs. Johanna Quirk and the late Mrs. Margaret Feller, grandmother and great-grandmother. Friends may call at Jay Parrish Funeral Home, 12924 Euclid Ave. Services Thursday at 8 p. m. Ramel-Spindle service. I was wondering if anyone could explain the phrase "Ramel-Spindle service" to me? I find it odd as that was not the name of the funeral parlor. Any ideas? 2. At an antique store in Delaware OH, I found an old cabinet card photo by an Ashland photographer with the following written on the back: Grandpa Orlo Kosht and Carlton Kosht I believe this is Orlo (or Orlow) Kosht, son of Jacob and Ann Kosht of Crawford Co Ohio. I see Orlow and his wife Katherine living in Cleveland, Cuyahoga Co in 1900 with children Guy and Grethchen. Orlow and Katherine are buried in Ashland City Cemetery. Cartlon Kosht is the son of Orlow's son Guy Kosht and his wife Harriet. He died in FL in 1995 Joecan

    3. Thank you so very much for all the information you sent to me, Peggy and Sandy Rozhon. I've got all the family information, but I think the clue to finding how we connect is through the maiden name of Anna/Annie Hopkins. I guess I have some more digging to do. Again Thank you Peggy & Sandy. Marjorie White

A virus that is distributed as an attachment will not reach you through a RootsWeb mailing list. A recent virus, and several imitations of it, may result in your receiving an e-mail (or a greeting card) with a virus attached, that appears to come from RootsWeb or from an address you are familiar with. Some virus will send a message to all the unread messages in the infected person's mailbox folders; another will use addresses found in the infected person's address book. They send messages using a forged address (for instance, using RootsWeb or the infected person in the return address). The subject line may be from a message that was recently received, making it even more credible. While it may appear to come from RootsWeb, that is only an illusion of the virus -- our address and the subject line is a forgery. What can you do? 2. Kathie You can send an email request to archives for a copy of the certificate. More than likely it will give you only the date, the bride and groom names and the person that married them. They will send it to you snail mail (with the bill) so be sure to include your mailing address in the email. It is 25 cents per copy but a minimum of $1.00, so if you only request one certificate, it will be $1. They are fairly quick, in general, to get the papers in the mail. You will only recieve a reply if they have a question. Jean

    3. Dear Ceal, Good point--there could be so many reasons. Alicia's husband, JOHN HENRY GALVIN, was also supposed to have lost his Irish family. The family story is that he lost them on the boat over arond 1846, when he was about 2, and was adopted by an English family. I have never been able to find out if this was the case, I keep trying to find out who raised him. Hello, You all are so helpful, so I thought you might be able to help with this. I just found my husband's g-g-g-grandmother ALICIA JULIA HYDE in the Cleveland Directory in 1865-66. She is a boarder at 273 Columbus and is unmarried--, no profession is listed. Since I have not been able to find a family for ALICIA, or to find her in the 1850 or 1860 census, I am grabbing at this thread. Here is my question: what was she doing living in Cleveland, alone, in 1865? Could she have been a teacher (my mother-in-law seems to remember hearing this) and if so, how do I find that out? Also, is it possible to find out whom she rented from? She claimed in her husband Civil War pension paperwork that she was born in October of 1844 in Steubenville, Ohio, so she would have been about 21 at the time. In April of 1866 she would mary JOHN HENRY GALVIN. I tried "paging through" the directory to find other unmarried women boarders, but it seemed pretty unusual--should I be shocked? Thank you for any thoughts on this. She had come from Ireland to live with a relative who ran a boarding house after all of her family had died. She probably would not have had a profession listed as she most probably helped out at the boarding house until she married in 1873. I have been unsuccesful in finding her living here in Cleveland prior to the 1880 census. I know she was here. I just can't find her. There could be numerous reasons for your g-g-g grandmother living alone in Cleveland at that time.
