I've used that site frequently myself, however in this particular case, the neighborhood (or most of it) no longer exists so the auditor's records aren't very helpful. I've had more success looking through all the old deeds they have online. If you haven't seen this site, I've found it sometimes helps you to establish the long missing spelling of old names and also spouse's names because the records frequently show property transfers from one spouse to another or from the deceased to his heirs. Sometimes they include the exact relationship between all the names, which is also darn helpful. See the site below: http://recorder.cuyahoga.oh.us/ Thanks for you tip, Sandy

Thanks! That's what I was hoping for. I'm doing some research on a specific neighborhood that I know was subdivided and developed right around the turn of the century, so it would be neat to see what some of the early structures looked like. The only thing I would hope for, beyond that, is some inkling of what the original landowner's property looked like (ie. what sort of house and exactly where it was located) but I suspect that that info might not be available as it was first settled and turned into a farm around 1820 or so. 2. Cynthia C Turk
    3. Dennis, Necrology file runs from about 1833 to 1975, so between that. Funeral homes were fairly recent, so probably after 1875. Dec. 24 only falls on Friday two of fourteen calendars, those being 1858, 1869, 1875, 1880, 1886, 1897, 1909, 1915, 1920, 1926, 1937, 1943, 1948, 1954, 1965, 1971. I am guessing reel no. 13 is part of the first series, so before 1951. You could key word search on the siblings to see when each of them dies or remarries to figure which of the above years would apply. If I had to guess, from the way it reads, I would go with 1948. Let us know what you find. Cynthia in Lake County

    3. Building permits were issued by the City in which the structure was built. If you are specifically looking for a building permit in the City of Cleveland, the building permits go back to at least 1910. They are located in Cleveland City Hall, Room 517. The people in this area are very helpful. Just obtained a building permit for a structure built in 1910. The permit contained a drawing that outlined the structure and its placement on the property, what it was built of, the name of the architect, etc. Nancy ----- Original Message ----- From: "L.R." <villagerose88@yahoo.com> To: <OHCUYAHO-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, December 18, 2004 2:58 AM Subject: [OHCUYAHO] Re: bulding > Hi, > The archives has a set of cards (in poor condition) of homes. 3. Hi, The archives has a set of cards (in poor condition) of homes. The card contains info about the house.property and a picture of the home take around 1950/1960. Over time pictures become lost so they might not have it. The archives have changed their policy recently about doing property research, you now have to have detailed information and to make an appointment. Also, what information might be available regarding what the house might have looked like? Does the County Archives hold any of these records?
