Hello, When I go to http://recorder.cuyahoga.oh.us/general.cfm, a lot of the deeds I am looking at have 2 pages, but I am only able to view one page. Is there a way that I can see all the pages? (Isn't this a great site? I just seen page 2 of my great-great grandfather's deed, dated 1867!) Any help would be appreciated. Judy
Hi, If this is the same Earl Norris, he is my 3rd cousin.....born of Willard Henry Norris and Elizabeth "Lizzie" Black in Shawnee, Ohio in 1921. Earl's wife was Virginia Peyton.......same one? Thanks, Mary samlevy@aol.com
My great grandmother was definitely of childbearing age when she purchased that house in 1895. I'm also thinking that it might have had to do with her husband's occupation. He was a seaman on the Great Lakes and either it was hazardous or perhaps he was just away for long periods of time and it was easier for her to take care of all things legal. Or maybe she bought the house while he was away and surprised him with it! Sounds like my family. Kathy

Another reason might be to protect personal assets in case a man is sued, somehow, in a business relationship. Mary K. B.

Someone mentioned that the deeds were often in the wife's name rather than the husband's. Does anyone know why that was the custom? In my parents' case, they signed their mortgage papers two days after Pearl Harbor so it may have been prudent thinking on my father's part as he volunteered for the service on December 8. But I see the same thing happened with my great grandparents in 1895: the house was in my great grandmother's name. Kathy

Wow, thanks for giving the new site for cuyahoga cnty records. That is great. Very helpful on lost relatives. Applause for the Recorders office for putting them on. What a help. Marlene
Luana, I had the same problem because the images pop up in a default Quicktime viewer on my computer, so I right click on the link in the second pop up window, choose "save target as" and put the image in a special folder on my computer desktop. I can open them later in my Windows98 Imaging software. You might try Microsoft's website or Wang's to download a viewer. Good luck. I found that if you click on the deed you are viewing that it magnifies. Try it. WHAT RECORD ARE YOU TRYING TO VIEW?
I was viewing a deed from 1879. This is so cool! I found records, but cannot view them well. They are so tiny. When I go to print all I get is a blank page. What am I doing wrong? Luana -----Original Message----- From: Barbara I. I always use the format 01/01/1850 ( or whatever year you want) as the start date. Some virus will send a message to all the unread messages in the infected person's mailbox folders; another will use addresses found in the infected person's address book. They send messages using a forged address (for instance, using RootsWeb or the infected person in the return address). The subject line may be from a message that was recently received, making it even more credible. While it may appear to come from RootsWeb, that is only an illusion of the virus -- our address and the subject line is a forgery. > > What can you do? If an unexpected attachment comes from someone you do know, write to confirm that the attachment was sent by them prior to opening it. Really I could KISS the county of Cuyahoga for these totally awesome resources I would Love to find someother counties like Mahoning or Washington with these DBs Eliz

I've simply been putting in 1/1/1800 as the start date and then I either leave the end date at today, or if the system seems unusually slow, I'll put an end date closer to the point in time I expect the results. I've been using 1800 as the start date because they've been updating the deeds at such a rapid pace, I didn't want to miss out on anything they may have added recently. I wonder how far back they plan to go? Sandy

It is the recommended viewer for the site and allows you to see all the pages, too. In fact, it will also rotate the image if need be (some of the deeds have the second page flipped). All you have to do is click on the little left or right arrows in the toolbar where it tells you what page you are looking at. I did like you until I noticed those arrows were there! AlternaTIFF will also magnify the image if you just click on it and then you can push the image around the screen, then click again to return to the original zoom level. Sandy
