    2. Hello: I have looked in the online Cleveland necrology files, and there were over 70 Davenport obituaries, but there were none for either a Joseph or an Elsa or Elsie Davenport. Are your sure they died in the Cleveland area? Also, I cannot remember the exact website, but if you type in Kanawha County West Virginia, you will find many, many links. We were able to locate a list of cemeteries in the county. Just try that, and I think you'll locate what you need. Lorene in Ohio

    1. JAROS surname
    2. david yarros
    3. Dear list, I am new to this list and just thought that I would jump right in. I am looking for anyone with a connection, or info on any person with the JAROS surname or it's variations(JAROS, YAROS, YARROS, YAROSH). I am most interested in anyone with the JAROS surname with ties to the villiage of Maskovce, Slovakia. My great grandfather emigrated from this town and according to the Ellis Island site, there were several more people who left the same villiage. Some of these people settled in the Pittsburgh area of PA, McKean County PA and the Cleveland area. I have heard of a possible Yaros relation that moved from Bradford, McKean County, PA to the Ceveland area sometime in the middle of the 20th century, I would love to find a connection to him. Please do not hesitate to contact me off list. Regards, David Yarros Scranton, PA mr_y18@hotmail.com

    2. I figured out a way to search deeds by address (sort of). First you go onto the Cuyahoga County Auditor's website, then enter the address. It will come up with who lives there now, as well as a permanent parcel number for that property. Then take the permanent parcel number and go back to the recorder's website. search by parcel number. it will come up with all the deeds over the years that concern that property--sometimes.

I wrote to the website developers and suggested that option just a few days ago. No response yet. It sure would be handy, though in some cases, deeds are listed without a street name. Sometimes because the person indexing these couldn't read the street name, or grabbed the first name that sounded like it must be a street. Best way to do this is find out who owns it now and backtrack. Find out who sold it to the current owner and so forth and so forth. Sandy

    2. Hi If you check the numbers on the far right side of the page of search results, and there are two consecutive numbers by the same name and date, you will get the different pages. I also use Picture It, and it works good.

    3. The problem is most likely that you do not have a viewer associated with the image file or you have installed a software program like QuickTime® which associates itself with files it cannot view. QuickTime® is an Apple movie format, the viewer for which, when installed on a PC, takes over the viewing of all tif files, but then cannot read the most commonly used tif format, group IV fax. If this occurs, when you click on a group IV tif image you will see only an icon for QuickTime that has been "broken," indicating that QuickTime cannot handle the image. To correct this problem, go to Start>Settings>ControlPanel and double-click the QuickTime icon. Then select "Browser Plugin" in the menu and click the "MIME settings" button. Scroll down the list and double-click the .tif and.tiff entries (this will remove the "+" from that entry so that your default file association will be reinstated. 1. viewing pages from Recorder Court
    2. I was having a hard time viewing also. Once I started right clicking and saving, it made all the difference. The way I view it, I go into "start," then to "my documents". When I highlight what I want to open, I right click again on it. I then go to "open with." It gives me 3 choices, Kodak viewer, paint or windows picture and fax viewer. I pick the later, which then lets me zoom. Hope this helps someone. Jean

    2. Sandy Rozhon
    3. To help speed up the process of viewing deeds, when you get a list of results, always right click on the deed number (left column) and select OPEN IN NEW WINDOW. This way, you can always return to the result list without having to wait for it to refresh and continue browsing while your selection is loading in that other window. Sandy
