    1. RE: [OHCUYAHO] Obituary Information Needed (Johnston)
    2. Robert C. Johnston, Jr.
    3. Sorry, but those names don't sound familiar. My grandfather was Clarence Thomas Johnston who lived in the Cleveland/Medina area between the 1910's and 1950's before moving here to Alabama. My great-grandfather, Dr. Thomas Daniel Johnston, was a Chiropractor in Cleveland from the early 1900's till his death in '31. He moved to Cleveland from Bay County, MI sometime after the 1900 census. William G. Johnston was the other son of Dr. Thomas Daniel Johnston. He was also a chiropractor with his father and was last known to be living in Medina during the early '50s. If you run across even of these men, please let me know. Thanks! 1. Frederick MEDHURST
    2. Derek Medhurst
    3. Hi, wonder if anyone can help me. I'm looking for any information on Frederick MEDHURST, who has proved pretty elusive so far. Some info I do have relates both to Lake County & Cuyahoga County, and I'm not sure of precise movements (or possible boundary changes) over years so will check out Lake Co list as well. # Born 30 Dec 1883, Sevenoaks, England. # Believed to have emigrated from UK to US around 1912-1915, family stories suggest he may initially have been a prison warder, possibly Philadelphia, but absolutely no details known. Contact then lost with him. # Social Security application in 1946 gives employer as Longford Recreation, 184 Euclid Ave, Willoughby. # Died Willoughby, Lake County, 10 Nov 1966, cremated Cleveland Cremation, Cuyahoga. Death cert gives occupation as waiter, that he was married, and that he seems to have remained an English citizen. # Earlier (commercial) research unable to trace him in 1920 census, or entry via any US east coast port. Have identified a Frederick MEDHURST married to Charlena SPORE, and all available evidence says this is NOT the Frederick I'm looking for (age, mother's name and Soc Secy number differ). If anyone has stumbled over any sightings of Frederick or relations in their own research, will be delighted to hear! Derek Medhurst Sevenoaks, England

    1. Missing Royalton Death Records for Otis Cole in 1887
    2. Paul C Johnson
    3. I'm trying to find a death record for Otis Cole who I think died in 1887. I found a date penciled in the margin of his will. When I went to look in the Cuyahoga Co death records (LDS Film # 0,879,243) the entries for Royalton township are not with the other Townships for that time period. Are they listed in another section or in another Volume? TIA Paul Johnson

    2. Either of these? Captain James Forster, died January, 1855, in the 72nd year of his life, at the Cleveland residence of his son. James Foster lived at the corner of Prospect and Kentucky Streets, West Side. or James W. Wilson, died March, 1856, in the 84th year of his life, at the residence of his son, Eratus.

    3. Just an addendum.... The Foster family I'm researching were here by 1824, but don't show up in the 1830 census. This is one of those cases where if they were living with another family (ie. the wife's brother or something) there'd be no way to know that because the census only lists the head of the family. Arghhhh. Sandy

In the end it seems James may be your man Boy are you quick! :) Alas, it doesn't seem like the census is going to give me the answer. James is too old to be the sibling I'm looking for. Why, oh why, didn't the government require that those early censuses take down all family member's names? How much easier things would be.... Chances are the fellow I'm looking for was living with a brother and then died before the 1850 or 1860 census would have listed him. Ah, sweet mystery of genealogy..... Thanks for the lookup. You just have access to the census, right? Not the death records or anything? Sandy

    3. Could someone with access to the census images, please do a search for any FOSTER in Cuyahoga County for the years 1830, 1840, 1850. I am only interested in the ones that were from Connecticut. I just need the given names at this point. I have a missing sibling in one of the families I am researching. A local history mentions there were 11 children when they arrived in Cuyahoga County. I've identified 10 so far. I'm reasonably sure it's a male born between 1798 and 1824. Location in Cuyahoga County could be Brooklyn, Newburgh, or Strongsville. Of course, it's possible he'd be in another community but those are the ones I know parts of this family owned property in. Thanks, Sandy

    3. I am researching the surname VOLLBRACHT, and I am looking for information on Elsie L. VOLLBRACHT who married John R. STEELE. Elsie is believed to have died in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. Elsie L. was the daughter of Louis W. & Minnie C. SASS VOLLBRACHT of Camp Point, Adams Co. IL. She was born May 28, 1892 and died March 25, 1969. It is unknown what became of John R. STEELE. Last info found was in the 1930 Cleveland Ohio census, which showed Elsie was divorced and living with her daughter, Elvira R. who was born abt. 1916 in Missouri. I been told Elvira married a Mr. DEELY. Elsie had 2 known brothers: George Henry & Louis John VOLLBRACHT. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you very much for your time. Judi from Illinois
