Hello I am trying to find the census image for the family that lived at 24 Posen St. (I believe this is now E. 67th SE) in 1900. The family that should be living there have the last name Gosiorowski but I have not been able to find them using Heritage Quest. Is there another backwards way to find the people at 24 Posen Street? I have been browsing the area in Ward 25 of that year but can't even find Posen St. listed. Any help or tips are appreciated! Thanks. Trina
Hi, The website is wonderful! Even though I grew up on the east side of Cleveland some of these landmarks are familiar. Mentioned under the old churches in one section is St. John the Baptist Greek Catholic Church on Scoville Ave. My grandparents were married by Rev. Emil Burik at that church in 1908. The church was demolished to make way for the innerbelt. I have been trying in vain for many years to find a picture of that church. I was told that the new St. John's in Parma has records from the old church on Scoville. I have tried several of the emails on the church website, but no response. Is there anyone on the list who is a member of the church and can help me? Thanks Patricia Owens-Wellington, OH Genealogy---Where you confuse the dead, and irritate the living. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, April 01, 2007 1:29 PM Subject: [OHCUYAHO] New Website on Cleveland's Southside > Carol Lubbers wrote: > Thank you, Pat, for this website and everybody who is part of it. "Charleston Cemetery; a Look into Charleston's Past" will the featured program presented by Diane Wargo Medina to the Lorain County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society on Monday, April 9, 2007 at the North Ridgeville Public Library, 35700 Bainbridge Road, North Ridgeville, OH. Diane Medina will relate the fascinating story of how her teenage curiosity of an all-but-forgotten cemetery near downtown Lorain lead to her life long project of restoring this sadly neglected but historic cemetery. Diane's dedication has lead to the discovery of long buried tombstones, the gravesites of two of Charleston Villages' founding fathers, and the pursuit of family genealogies of the cemetery residents. Diane's work has lead to the elevation of the forgotten Charleston Pioneer Cemetery to Landmark Status by the Preservation Network of Lorain County. Come join us to hear this remarkable story of one woman's commitment to preserving an important element of a town's heritage. Social Time is 6:30 pm; program and a general meeting at 7:00 pm. To List members. I do not have access to ancestry .com and need a little help. Is there an index for the 1930 census online anywhere? I am looking for a John Doyle in St. Joseph, Missouri. He was born in PA and was a locomotive engineer at one point. He would be about 70+ yrs. old or so. He is probably a widower. When he died in 1943 he was living on CHarles but in the 1920 census he was on Mitchell. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Hi Sher, I found a 68 year old widower John Doyle as a roomer in the household of Willman and Josephine Reinhold. I can't make out the street easily- I'll email you the rest of the information off list. In thinking about this Ancestry.com circumstance, I recalled seeing an announcement earlier in the week that Ancestry was opening its new Chinese database. I'd be willing to bet that they don't have enough servers to handle the increased traffic. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of [email protected] Sent: March 29, 2007 12:34 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [OHCUYAHO] Ancestry.com site problem? Yes! Both my friend and I keep getting the come back later message that they may be busy or down for maintenance. We had the same problem at the National Archive last week when we used their computers but we thought it was them. But now getting in has been sporadic for the last week or so from our home computers. Hello everyone Is anyone else having a problem opening the Ancestry home page? I just started having a problem in the last day or so. Just wondering if it is me! Thanks! Trina
Hi Tina, For the last couple of weeks, when I go to http://ancestry.com, I get a blank page, or it takes forever to show up (and I have high speed, no problems with other sites). If I go to http://ancestry.com/Default.aspxinstead, it pops right up. None what so ever. I was on for several hours last night both for searches and answering posts on message boards.... and just this AM doing some searching.
