I received this from NARA - we can comment on the "proposed increase" - so let's voice our objections The proposed fee increase to $125.00 is for the "Full" Civil War Pension files only (those files can be anywhere from 12 or 20 pages to as many as 800-1,000, hence the fee increase). The Pension Documents package (selected major documants) would be from $14.75 to $25.00. The proposed increase for the service record is from $17.00 to $25.00. NARA's fee schedule for reproductions is currently open for public comment by notice in the Federal Register on February 26, 2007. You may see the proposed rule directly via GPO Access at http://a257.g.akamaitech.net/7/257/2422/01jan20071800/edocket.access.gpo.gov/2007/E7-3160.htm NARA also has a summary of the proposed rule and link on the NARA web site at http://www.archives.gov/comment/ If you wish to comment on the proposed rule (or related interim final rule), you may submit comments according to the instructions in the proposed rule under ADDRESSES. We hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have additional questions.

Hi group Does anyone know how to ask the ancestry.com website for St. Joseph's Female Orphan Asylem in Kings County, New York. I have the one from the census for 1920 but I wondered if the name Rybka or similar name were on maybe the 1900, 1910, or 1930 (if the orphanage had been in existence that long) census records. I can't seem to get ancestry.com to accept the parameters I've set to reach this orphanage. Seems to me that in years past I did check an orphanage for Indiana/Illinois but I can't remember the exact name, and also I've wondered if Cleveland, Ohio had an orphanage. In fact, is there any list of the orphanages anywhere on the net that correspond to those listed on the census records? Thanks christie
Fellow genealogists and anyone concerned with preserving our sacred cemeteries, Time Warner and The History Channel are sponsoring a 'Save Our History' grant award for which people can go online and cast their vote. Voting ends on April 27th, so time is short. Our Jackson Ohio cemetery restoration project was the only genealogy group or cemetery project to be chosen as one of the five finalists, so I truly hope that you will go to the Time Warner website and cast your vote for the James Cemetery project. If awarded this grant, we will use 100% of the grant to begin installing an antique-style aluminum alloy fence around the perimeter in order to help halt further desecration of this sacred and historic burial ground. You can read more about our James Cemetery project at the Time Warner 'Save Our History' voting website. Please unite with us as a group of people concerned about the ever-increasing destruction of our cemeteries by VOTING for us at the website below. And note also that ANYONE in Ohio with Internet access can VOTE!! www.aroundrr.com/SaveOurHistory Anthony Coyan
