    2. Have you ever wondered what that "cause of death" meant and what kind of medical treatment was available at the turn of the last century? Come join us for a unique look at the lives of our ancestors as they faced some common and not-so-common health issues of their day. Lorain Co. Chapter of OGS welcomes Pat Gerstner who will present "Illness and Medical Care in the late 19th and Early 20th Century" on Monday, May 14, 2007 at the North Ridgeville Public Library, 35700 Bainbridge Road, North Ridgeville. Pat is the retired Chief Curator of the Dittrick Medical History Center at Case Western Reserve University. Ms. Gerstner's career included research in medical history that touched on alternative health practices and the development of medicine in Cleveland. Since her retirement in 1998, Pat has continued her research in Cleveland medicine, particularly in early 20th century public health issues. Social time is 6:30 pm; program and general meeting at 7:00 pm. For further information, contact Jean at [email protected] . Hope to see you there!  The public is always welcome to attend. 2. W. D. Smith
    3. Susan, Next time you go up there, could you please see if you can find a William Schmidt/Smith/Schmitt, etc.. or "male child" Schimdt/Smith born August 1889? My grandfather gave birthdate August 17, 1889. I found a William Schmidt listed on the birth index for Cuyahoga, but they either forgot about me or I didn't send the request to the right office..I have not confirmed his parents, but his father was POSSIBLY a William / Wilhelm Schmidt / Smith. There's a William Smith the right age to be my grandfather in hh of a Wilhelm Schmidt and wife Augusta with an older "Duback, Durbach" (sic - forget how it's spelled on the census! Sheesh!) male (probably Augusta's father) in Cuyahoga County in 1900. a Wilhelm Schmidt and Augusta Dehrbach were married up there in 1884, and this is probably them. I couldn't find my grandfather's record in Lorain, where he stated he was from, so it's probably in Cuyahoga.. Sure wished Ohio had a STATEWIDE birth index for that time period!!!! Thanks, Will ----- Original Message ----- From: "Susan" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, May 03, 2007 9:49 PM Subject: Re: [OHCUYAHO] Marriage Record > Hi Andy, > > It will depend on the vol number. > > http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~officer/CuyOhFAQ.html > > Vol 1 - 200 I can get a copy the next time I go to the archives. 3. How can I get a copy of a birth record? I thought I had requested it online from Cuyahoga County, but guess they didn't get it. There's a William Schmidt born, it looks like, 1889 who may be my grandfather. Who can I call up there? 1. [OHCUYAHO] Lincoln High School on Cleveland's Southside westside
    2. Good afternoon List, I am looking for a "few good people." Actually, a whole lot of good people would really make my day. I am webmaster of Cleveland's Southside and after working on our "Church" section and "Bits of Info" section with emphasis on Easter for what seemed like weeks, I am ready to take on something else. "Lincoln High School" has been one of our more popular pages and it is ready for a major update. If anyone has attended Lincoln, not necessary to have graduated, and would like to contribute a memory, photo or document please consider doing so. It can be done through our BLOG, if it is a memory. That address is www.bluetreeart.com/blog.html Or you can go directly to the website and contact me through the "Webmaster" or "Contact Us" links. That address is www.bluetreeart.com/ClevelandSouthside For those of you doing research on someone who may have attended Lincoln, the graduate databases should be coming online very shortly. The earlier years, starting with 1929 will be first, finishing up with the last year of the school's existence 1970. Have a great day, Pat www.bluetreeart.com/ClevelandSouthside ________________________________________________________________________ Check Out the new free AIM(R) Mail -- 2 GB of storage and industry-leading spam and email virus protection.

    3. Geez, I hope I've already copied all my Civil War Veteran's pensions and hope I don't come up with anymore. Cindy "B. Hurst" <[email protected]> wrote: I received this from NARA - we can comment on the "proposed increase" - so let's voice our objections The proposed fee increase to $125.00 is for the "Full" Civil War Pension files only (those files can be anywhere from 12 or 20 pages to as many as 800-1,000, hence the fee increase). The Pension Documents package (selected major documants) would be from $14.75 to $25.00. The proposed increase for the service record is from $17.00 to $25.00. NARA's fee schedule for reproductions is currently open for public comment by notice in the Federal Register on February 26, 2007.
