I just found Ferdinando ZOTTOLA in Pittsburg, under NATTOLE. Man! No need to look for them... But if you see anything on STAMPO, other than the 1910, let me know... Thanks, Vince
Ferdinando ZOTTOLA b Jan 1864 Italy A. Maria ZOTTOLA b 1863 Italy Philomena "Mamie" ZOTTOLA b 1885-1886 Italy Asunda ZOTTOLA b 1895 Italy Maria ZOTTOLA b Feb 1899 Pennsylvania Andreao "Andrew" b Mar 26 1901Pennsylvania The above family lived in Pittsburg(h) in 1900. Philomena married Sabino STAMPO in October of 1900. They moved to Cleveland, Cuyahoga, Ohio by the 1910 census, where they are found. Sabino adopted the name Andrew. Perhaps he felt he needed to choose an American name, or perhaps young Andrew ZOTTOLA, born after Sabino's marriage to his wife's parents, was the inspiration for taking on the name Andrew. Did the boy die? I don't have a clue, as I cannot find them for 1910 or 1920. Sabino STAMPO b June 1877 Italy Philomena "Maime" STAMPO, listed above... Ambrose STAMPO b Ohio July 7, 1904 Alexander C STAMPO b January 31, 1906 Ida STAMPO b April 1910 Ohio ? STAMPO b before 1911 died in infancy I *do* have Andrew STAMPO and family for 1910 already. Can you find anything in any directories, cemeteries, Ancestry census (I cannot find them in HQ). Thanks! Vince Summers

Vince, The 1910 census shows Andrew was NOT Naturalized but he had filed his paperwork for Citizenship.... the same in the 1920 census ... PA indicates papers had been filed. Robert "Vincent E. Summers" <[email protected]> wrote: Folks, This email will be moderately lengthy, in order to provide the proper scenario... Sabino STAMPO came to the Pittsburg, PA area from Italy. He made a few trips both via Castle Garden, PA, and Ellis Island, NY. In the 1900 census, he is listed as a servant in another's home. In October of 1900, he married the daughter of Ferdinand ZOLLOTTA, also an immigrant from Italy. Her name was Philomena ZOLLOTTA, but she had the knickname Maime. Now Sabino and Maime moved to Cuyahoga County, Ohio by the time of the 1910 census. He there lived under the name of Andrew. He had been naturalized, and may have chosen the name of Andrew to fit in with his citizenship. By 1920, it ought to be remarked, however, he had reverted to Sabino. By that time, too, he had moved back to Pittsburg. The couple had children: Ambrose, Alexander, and Ida. I think Sabino may have moved to Ohio because his wife's family may have moved, but I have to check for ZOLLOTA in Ohio, as of now. Suffice it to mention that I have not found the parents in Pittsburg since the couple married. Can you: 1. Tell me info you may know as a family connection, 2. Tell me info you may know because of having specific data, 3. Tell me anything you know plain and simple! Snicker... Thanks! Saw your message. Was wondering if you have a J.A. Stanton in your family? I have a coroners report from 1911-Cleveland with a J.A. Stanton as a witness to a shooting. Not sure if Stanton's are related to my family or not. The report is for my grandfathers brother Peter Roman jr. He died of complications of a gun shot wound. I have been trying to find out just how and why he was shot. He was 21 yrs of age. His death certificate says "homicide" the coroners report is faded and hard to read but looks like it might say "Accidental". The other witness were: Anna Roman, Frank Hoenig, J.M. Benz, Mike Prokop and Ost?? G??bbland or G??ffland. I have very little info on the Roman family. My gr. grandparents immigrated from what is now Slovakia in abt. 1884 or so. All their kids were born in Pa. Been hoping I could find someone who might know of a family story passed down thru the generations about his death. I have had no luck in finding any newspaper article about it and the coroners report telling what the witness' said is missing or was never recorded. Thanks Debbie ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
It's always nice to hear that we're invited to attend talks and seminars, however attendance for some is out of the question because we are out of state, or stuck in the house. It would be very nice if a transcript could be provided to those who request same from any talks given in your area. Can you arrange something like that? Cordially, Christie J. Just came across this & thought I would write. My name is Bonnie (Smith ) Henson I have a Great Uncle by this Name (William Earl Schmidt) Schmitt was used also in some my Info & Smith. ( McGowan-Reid , WA 8-1313) ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// ////////////// this is a copy I got out of my Mother's things after her death. Could this be the William you are looking for? Please let me know. He had 2 brother that lived in Cleavland,Ohio beside him self do not know if he was Married or not no info on this in the Obit as you can see. My Grand-mother's name is in Obit as well as 1 of his sisters.. Other 2 Bro. was Jacob & Mathias Bonnie Mae Henson now in Southern Ca. born in Ohio ( places not filled in was unreadable in news paper article.) Susan, Next time you go up there, could you please see if you can find a William Schmidt/Smith/Schmitt, etc.. or "male child" Schimdt/Smith born August 1889? My grandfather gave birthdate August 17, 1889. I found a William Schmidt listed on the birth index for Cuyahoga, but they either forgot about me or I didn't send the request to the right office..I have not confirmed his parents, but his father was POSSIBLY a William / Wilhelm Schmidt / Smith. There's a William Smith the right age to be my grandfather in hh of a Wilhelm Schmidt and wife Augusta with an older "Duback, Durbach" (sic - forget how it's spelled on the census! Sheesh!) male (probably Augusta's father) in Cuyahoga County in 1900. a Wilhelm Schmidt and Augusta Dehrbach were married up there in 1884, and this is probably them. I couldn't find my grandfather's record in Lorain, where he stated he was from, so it's probably in Cuyahoga.. Sure wished Ohio had a STATEWIDE birth index for that time period!!!!
