Real name is Jan Egnatius Semprich all from Austria. John born 6 Aug 1887, Ignatius born 21 Aug 1881 and Alois born 1886 and arrived here 16 June 1910. John married Mary Przybylski and she died during the Flu of 1918. My grandmother Mary and John had three babies Anthony B 1912, my dad Stanley (Charles) B 1918 and my Aunt Jane (still alive) remembers very little because she was only two B 1916. After or right before my grandmother died John up and left the three babies on the streets of Cleveland when the Catholic Charities took them in. Uncle and my dad shuffled all over the place and my aunt ended up on Fitz Brothers dairy farm in Venice, Ohio. Eventually in 1930 I can find all three children on the farm. There is a space of time from 1917-1940 when I have nothing on my grandfather. It is like he fell off the face of earth. ANyway my dad always said there were brothers and gave me their names so that is why I am trying to prove that these three are really brothers. I have a gut feeling these three John, Ignatius and Alois are my family. ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
Semproch, Looking for all and any Semproch, Semprich's all from Cuyahoga County, Cleveland, Ohio. Ignatius, Alois, John, Stanley all from Austria and lived in Cuyahoga. Ignatius married Frances Jarzynski and Alois married Stella Tomczyk and John married Mary Przybylski and Stanley (I think) was killed early in his life. I am trying to prove these are all my family and cannot find a lot that says they are. I know Ignatius and Alois acknowledge each other in their obits but no mention of John and I know he is their brother just have to prove it. Any help is so greatly appreciated. John may have been Jan or Iwan... but then maybe he did not translate the name directly. Robert [email protected] wrote: I found the other brothers in the 1920 Census - but no sign of John. Great idea! I'll have to do that. I have a few photos from the early 1900s that belonged to my great grandmother but we don't know if they are family or friends. Maybe they are cousins. I'll try dead fred. Trina, I'm still laughing at your Cracker Barrel comment. I was just there this weekend and found myself doing the same thing... Shelley, I ditto Trina's comments of thanking you for rescuing these old photos. What a great thing you're doing. I wish they were mine. Wouldn't it be great if there was a central site for posting unknown family photos or rescued photos? Everytime I'm at Cracker Barrel I look at all the old photos on the walls in case someone looks familiar! Thanks for rescuing these for someone. I hope you find them!!! Thanks again to everyone for the information they provided. I'm still trying to sort it all out. To further muddy the waters, I found another Frances Cowles obituary listing. This one was from Dec. 29, 1986. I found this on the Cleveland Library site. Unfortunately, it's just a listing of what page it's one. So, if anyone knows where to find the Plain Dealer, Dec. 29, 1986, Section B, page 6, I'd sure be interested! I'm trying to find out if this Frances J. Cowles is the daughter of John A. Ferguson of Pittsburgh, PA, as was listed in his death notice. I know her name was Frances JANE, and she was born Aug. 1911. I have not been successful in locating an obit for a MONROE (first name may have been Margarete) who lived in Cleveland Heights and died in July or August of 1944. She may have been buried in Knollwood Cemetary but a Knollwood website only had limited burial information. Any help would be appreciated. Fred Chapman
