Bill, According to census and other information that I found, it appears that Bertha's maiden name may have been Koeffler. A Bertha Magdalena Koeffler (father's surname also Koeffler) married Emil B. Klewer in Ontario province, Canada in 1888 and they came to the U.S. in about 1891, first to Allegheny City/Pittsburgh (1900 and 1910 census), then to Detroit MI (1920 and 1930 census). They were still in Detroit in 1930, although Emil died in Cleveland in 1934. Census records are consistent that Bertha was born in Canada to German parents (from Wurtenburg). Emil is stated in some census records to be from Germany, but the 1930 census says he and both parents were born in Poland. I cannot find a death record in Ohio for Bertha. Is it possible she died in Detroit? Some interesting, though conflicting information. I'll send details from census and Cleveland necrology files to you personally in separate e-mail. Hope this helps. Judy Davison Bill Frank <fairviewctr@yahoo.com> wrote: Seeking information on Bertha Kramp, born in Germany. Died in Cleveland.
