My younger dau,Brook, wanted some pictures to take home, and,as we searched for duplicates, we found the newspaper clipping [of about 1970?] of the house Isaac and Sophia Somers Higbee built on the s bank of the East Fork of the Little Miami River,Tate Twnsp,Clermont Co,Oh. 10% of their 400 acres, and the house site, was flooded by Lake Harsha,East Fork State park. The Higbee's had a log cabin from 1803,and built the big-[creekstone?] house in 1807.or 1809. [I broke my glasses, and will read the article when I can. I'll guess they moved on by 1830-35. Isaac Jr was a Morman founder of Provo,Utah, 1845+. It was last the country farm of Cincinnati Dr Johnson McGuire. Janie May Jegley was courted there,1930 era. C.Parker owned it 1870. Isaac Parker,or John O Wilson owned it 1891. Cornelius McCollum and his Leeds wife also came and settled just east in 1803,and built a stone house of Paul Mosbacker's-1970. Samuel and Rachel Leeds Ely,came in 1806,and lived just across the creek in Williamsburg, TWNSP.Batavia township corners to the west, and Josiah Wilson's barn survivied 1972. Higbee and McCollum owned a mill 1\2 mile west,at the foot of mile long "Deep Eddy" ,and that site is now the Tate boat dock of Lake Harsha. [that is the handle of the dumb bell shaped Lake Harsha. There was another article showing the old houses of Rev John, and lawyer son,Richard Collins,on the, now,Tate beach of Lake Harsha. Thomas String, and his Albertson wife, lived between Collins, and Higbee's mill. David White, and John Jenkins, and John Conover, and Old Bethel Methodist were the north end of Collins land, and just north of Robert and Margaret Leeds Leeds at Bantam,Oh ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET!
