Hi All, On the 1850 census my ancestor, William Cooper, is listed right above Lewis Gatch and below Edward Cowen. I would assume from that that William's property touched Lewis's and Edward's on one side or another. However, after spending several hours at the Clermont County courthouse, my husband was unable to find any deed for any property belonging to William or William's father Jesse or any other family member. Does anyone know if Lewis Gatch or Edward Cowen rented out pieces of their property? I'm finding so little about them that I'm beginning to think my ancestors were in the Witness Protection Program.
