Dear "site", Sue, Pat, and "interested": Hello. Thanks for the messages. I never saw, found, observed, any actual Rev War Vet type stones, nor DAR type stones, nor Military Organization type stones, on or by the graves of John Short Sr (Rev War Vet), or that of John Wheeler Sr (Rev War Vet); nor have I had any information from anyone else, or their recording, that such markings ever existed. All I ever saw was the standard era gravestone. The cemetery where they are buried, The Short Cemetery ("indicated" as the Wheeler-Short Cemetery in 1950's by the DAR for recording/bookkeeping purposes) was always a private cemetery (owned by the Shorts 1813 - 1847), and was always on private land upto its distruction in 1993.It had also hung wallow for quite a few years after the fine ownership of the Cooper family had ceased, whereas a "sub-division" had started and failed. Its only protection was that, if any, afforded by the government of the township and county. It was completly erased from the earths service, becoming a manicured rear/side yard of a new home. Only the "remains, if any, of any of the approx twenty persons buried below, would note their final resting place; - - - - - and then only if so noted for history; - - - - - and then only untill history forgets. Above ground, no cemetery exists. A few of the larger stones, whole, or broken, were piled under one of the old large trees. Even the persons who! wrecked this graveyard, and said they sure didn't know it was a graveyard, must have had a little sense, as they scratched their brows and wondered what all of these gravestones and marker stones were doing in their way???? I'm afraid that getting "regular" DAR markings, or "regular" government markings, would be an almost impossible task, especially for marking graves in a Cemetery which no longer exists. I would like to see it done! Yes! Take care. Regards, Dick
